Okposo is defensively decent to help Jack and Skinner in that regard.

Anyone have a guess to what another deal might be?

One option is you get to training camp, you see who's who in the pecking order, then probably see what you can get for one or two of Bowls, Johan Girgensons or Nick Bailey.

I can't imagine a blockbuster at this stage. Perhaps some tinkering or one of the guys above being traded for a low pick and a useful AHL guy? Who knows.

Can Ottawa trade Stone now?

If so, can he immediately sign an extension?

I wouldn’t mind Tanev from Vancouver. Don’t know what it would take though.

Sure. Use one of the 1sts along with Scandella or McCabeon a young quality top 3 with top line ceiling, that'd be great. Who's trading those players? I'd say Montreal but I think they're fresh out of assets.

Sam does go to the dirty areas and does win puck battles, but usually with his hands and smarts, he loses in the physicality battles.

Plus it could boost Okposo's stats if you're looking to move him (not sure what Botterill is thinking when it comes to him)

They can trade him whenever they want. It would be extremely poor ethics by Dorian, but he can. And yes, I believe he can sign that extension post trade.

What you would do

That's good. The thing that worries me is how little we gave up, and that there were no conditions put on any of the picks (i.e. the 2nd become a 1st if he signs). It makes me think both parties knew he was going to FA either way, so the cost was cheap.

We get the 2nd and a prospect back at the deadline, at minimum, if this is true. I will trade a 3rd and a 6th for a year of Skinner...that would be disappointing, but not very risky.

If you keep Sheary on the 2nd line all year. You are going to get more than 20 goals out of him. He is streaky, if you demote him when hes bad youll miss out on when hes good.

The team is looking better

The Sabres are not in a state that we would be acquiring rentals. This player was traded for for the potential to become long term. I believe Botts mentioned in his presser last night that they'd see how he fit into the team dynamic prior to signing him.

Sam does deserve a contract raise for his play this year his stats have increased every year but I don’t think he’s deserving of $8 million A year
