No, but ironically, now that they are somewhat "invested" in Skinner (ie: they gave up assets to acquire him, there will be some kind of internal pressure to sign him to a contract

ie: The ball is now in Skinner's court, and Buffalo will likely "overpay" somewhat should they end up keeping him, This could be too much term, or too much AAV, time will tell

Carolina did well, as the usual pieces they'd get for Skinner would be a 1st from a contender at the TDL, after paying him for 3/4 of the season.... A 2nd from a dumpster team like the Sabres is likely to be a very high 2nd *almost a 1st), so the addition of Pu can be seen as a bonus for them

I'll give you $5 if you stop being an bumhole.

If we simply consider the division competition :

1) Tampa Bay
2) Toronto
3) Boston
4) Florida (this Hoffman addition will get them somewhere)
5) Buffalo
...

I don't think that Buffalo can outclass the first 4 teams in their division. So that's a no go for this year, in my opinion.

Not seeing it. The Sabres are NOT a team with depth. This move is at least a year too soon, maybe 2 years

They'd have been better off keeping their young controllable assets, had another top 5 draft finish (bottom 5 league) and overpaying a FA (maybe Skinner) in next years FA class

There has been too much turnover in this years offseason to really know what they have. Giving up assets for a guy in the last year of his deal was a contenders move, not a rebuilders move

how many times have you seen a message-board trade that proposed their team giving up a good player/prospect and a bunch of meh for a star player?...happens all the time and those people are laughed at...

pu is a good player...will probably end up being a very good player and the picks were a 2nd, 3rd, and 6th...

for a three-time 30-goal scorer who has averaged over 25 goals/season...

no one's laughing at Botterill for that trade except, maybe, you?

@macman Skinner has only ever done those things twice in his career, the time after E Staal was traded(probably his best stretch of play during his career) and during his rookie season(albeit with the obvious rookie defensive lapses here and there). I’m personally looking forward to what he can do with a talented center(since he’s never played with one), despite what the trade looked like.

yeah, but the metropolitan is tough

Maybe he was talking about the "easy" points at the bottom of the Atlantic? It seems we have an owner in Ottawa with a "Major League" type clause so he can move if not enough people show up, Montreal doesn't have a center, Weber might never play again, Carey Price is too busy (frank)ing the help. Detroit.

Me and my neighbors placed our garbage at the curb Tuesday night, and I kid you not, the next morning it was all gone. Had to be the Russians... Damn you, Putin.
