This is another invented story. Karlsson is not going to be moved, and certainly not Calgary lol... - jaz258
Really? What gave you that idea? This is a first realization for me. |

I'd love to have Karlsson as much as the next guy, but I don't see how trading for him makes sense for the Flames right now. We already have Giordano, Brodie, Hamonic and just made a big trade for Hanifin and we'd likely be sending one of those guys back the other way, along with a prospect like Valimaki who a lot of people think is going to make the team. Plus, Treliving isn't a big fan of rentals anyway.
Calgary has the pieces to do this, but unless they get assurance Karlsson re-signs I can't see it being worth it. |

What 60 points total before this season? Idk what about my statistics you aren’t comprehending. Law of averages says he’ll drop down from the unsustainable 23% He was shooting at and around his average for the roughly 4 seasons he has played which is 14% so you take his average shots over that timespan (129) and you get around 20 goals, not 43. That isn’t to say that he can’t increase that with more opportunity but he will regress I can almost assure you |

I believe the silence has nothing to do with the negotiations going underground. Most front offices leak like a sieve and if one or two teams are talking to Ottawa about Karlsson other teams know the nature of the offers and discussion.
If there is no chatter it is because: there are no discussions taking place and alternatives to a trade are being considered or a deal has already been locked down between two teams and we are waiting on protected negations between the player and probable new team.
Other than for Edmonton I do not see a team that can compete with any of the several different offers that Yzerman can structure.
I believe Karlsson will be traded. I also believe that Melnyk is on the verge of selling the team. I think these two factors are butting up against one another at this time. - spatso
You’ve mentioned Edmonton a few times....what do you think is a good package heading to Ottawa?
Personally, McDavid and Draisaitl are both untouchable at this a point...but then I’m sure Chia sees things differently. Cap space is a concern for me as well. |

https://www.nhl.com/player/erik-karlsson-8474578
2013-14 = 74pts
2014-15 = 66pts
2015-16 = 82pts
2016-17 = 71pts
2017-18 = 62pts
So it would seem that Karlsson has multiple +60pts seasons. You said points, not goals. His point production is off the charts. He is the driver of all Sens point production.

I am pretty sure the guy above with the shooting % stats etc is talking about Wild Bill Karlsson, not EK65, though this is all very . (He also makes a great point about W.Karlsson) |

How on earth do the Flames get that deal done when TB couldn't? Please EK, please tell me how this makes a lick of sense, especially given the Flames current and future cap restrictions.
-rmull905
Just spitballing here, but maybe because Tampa doesn't want to give up the assets Ottawa is asking for? Maybe Calgary or other teams might be willing to offer more?
Having said that, I think we can all agree that Calgary, if they even were at all, are officially out of the running now that Ek has speculated. |
