Who was (is) better? Sergei Federov or Alex Ovechkin?

Federov 3 cups to 1.

OV 3 Harts to 1

OV is obviously the greatest Russian goal scorer of all time and has a better ppg.

Federov is the only player in NHL history to win Hart and Selke in same year.

That's tough. Fedorov with the Wings is a good comparison because he played his first 13 years there and Ovechkin has played 13 so far.

Fedorov did it mainly without the benefit of the PP, Ovechkin has 100 more goals than Fedorov based on their first 13 seasons. Fedorov has about 25% PPG while Ovechkin is over 33%.

Fedorov had his best years in slightly higher scoring years in the NHL than Ovechkin's.

Fedorov was a complete player.

BUT Fedorov played on some of the best teams ever. The year he had 120 points there were 6 HOF players on the team, and other than Lidstrom they were mostly on the back 9 of their careers, but I'll take a 32 year old Coffey over almost all the defensemen currently in the league.

As long as the wheels don't just fall off for Ovechkin, I think, in the end, it will be Ovechkin.
