He was moved to the wing therefore he is a winger and it was for an entire season so I don't see why this is an issue for you.
- Mino42

If you cant see why this is an issue for me than please re-read.

My point is Giroux is not a winger. Yes, it is pointless to talk about. Who cares? But I am right and Tanner is wrong. I need to make that clear.

Giroux played the whole season at wing. (Had his best season there too.) And despite the Flyers having a 3C hole, Hexy has already said this off-season that Giroux will likely remain at wing and will continue playing with Couts. Sorry, but You are wrong.

So he is a centerman that played wing .

Lets ask Giroux where he stands...

Last year, Matthews missed 25% of the season, but he scored goals at a higher rate than Ovechkin did the year he got 65. Matthews was third in the NHL in GAR/60 meaning that minute by minute, only Ovechkin and McDavid out produced him.

He's the best even-strength goal scorer in the NHL, and had he played the entire year and not been injured, he would have led the league in goals. He also scored at an 84 point pace. And his PP time / per game was something like 150th in the NHL.

Now, how you want to interpret the stats is up to you, and I'm not saying this is indisputable or anything, but saying that Matthews is currently better than Crosby is not even close to delusional and shouldn't even be controversial.

One more fun stat: in the last three years Matthews is 11th in total 5v5 goals, despite only playing in two of those year, and missing 25% of the games in one of the seasons he did play.

- james_tanner1

Fun fact that an 84 point pace is still less than what Sid scored last year. Yet again I'm not saying that he isn't a top tier guy but to say he is better Sid, Geno, Backstrom and many more has yet to be seen. If he plays all 82 games this year and puts up near the numbers you say he can then there will be no problem crowning him the best but until it happens you can't give it to him.

I will give this to you because I just realized that I'm on Tanner's side. I can't let that happen and still live with myself...

Well you can start by referring back to his pre season interviews from last season on how he’s really enjoying being a winger. To add, Giroux was named Second Team LEFT WING at the end of the season.

OK fine, so why doe NHL still list him as a C and whether he enjoyed it or not means nothing. I enjoy jerkin off, does that make me a jerk off? Some would say yes, but I disagree.

Right. He's a centreman that played on the wing. It didn't just take the Flyers management a decade to figure out he's actually a winger. Give them a but more credit than that.

If you robbed a bank every year for the passed decade and then didn't rob a bank in 2018 are you a bankrobber?

Perhaps the site needs a simple update? It’s one site; hell Hockey-Reference has him as C and RW. But playing 82 games at LW does mean something (and everything), as well as the NHL voting committee recognizing him as the 2nd best LW for the season. That may have been the worst comparison attempt I’ve ever read.

A defenceman who has been utilized as a winger according to Wikipedia.

Burns has played 90% of his NHL career at defense, so I think we should call him a winger.

Its called and exaggeration to prove a point.

So if he went back to C next season, is his still a LW? Or maybe, just maybe, he was a C all along being utilized in other positions.
Let it be known im not knocking him, I'd take him on the Devils in a heartbeat. I have just gotten used to pointing out Tanner's inaccuracies so I go with it.

I'm not really a jerk off.

Unless a lengthy injury happens to Couts (or Patrick maybe), Giroux is staying at wing. Even in the playoff series against Pitt, Filpula (lol) took over the 1C spot instead of shifting Giroux back when Couts missed a game or two. With the move to wing, Giroux becomes more durable potentially for his career. Plus he did have some kick ass chemistry with Couts. But if he did play 82 games as center as you suggest, then yes he’s a center lol. It’s all good man, who doesn’t enjoy a good J O sesh

You do know that Giroux was used exclusively as a left wing this past year, right?

I don't think Giroux was a top-10 center the past 3 years, but if you'd like to tell me how he was not a top-5 EC winger this past year, please feel more than welcome to do so.
