RIP Stan Mikita
- airjan23

whenever I think of Stan Mikita I always remember as a kid around 1980 getting his hockey card and I couldn't believe how many years he played, the print was so small to get all the years in there on the back of the card

Yes, it was hard to believe Mikita's durability and play for his 22 years as a Hawk, in those days prior to this era's advancements hockey equipment wise alone, plus the outside medical, and training world advancements that would have also aided him if available back then.
R.I.P. Stan Mikita.

God I was so drunk at the Hard Rock in Philly watching this game and basically missed the concert I was there for because I was too ingaged in the game. When they lost I just drank more.. most expensive bar tab I ever had for one night

No self respecting ranger fan would go to a concert during a SCF game. You lose your fandom card

Thanks Rusty. I had received a phone call from my friend while in the middle of posting that comment, & then went back to complete it, but without rechecking it after posted, since I had to immediately leave to pick him up & drive him about 20 miles to pick up his car by 6:00 pm, which was in for service. I just corrected the matter on that post.
But I had first posted my condolences on Stan Mikita about 10 minutes or so earlier on the then current Blackhawks blog, where I know I spelled it correctly, prior to seeing word of his death through a few comments that were already made on Jan's blog.

Nope. Soon to be dynasty. If the Rangers decided to tank for 1 or 2 more years even better.

I can see you laughing at me, tomtanker, since while in a rush to leave without rechecking, I misspelled Stan Mikita's last name wrong twice as "Makita" on this blog at 5:12 pm. (I just fixed it after seeing Rusty's reply alert upon returning home.)
But I had originally spelled it correctly just 9 minutes EARLIER at 5:03 pm on the then current Blackhawks blog, where I had FIRST expressed my condolences on Mikita's death.

HOWEVER, YOU DID MUCH GREATER WORSE HERE IN MISSPELLING 4 RANGERS' NAMES ALONE ON YOUR COMMENT THAT I SEE IMMEDIATELY, in addition to not likely knowing how to spell out correctly in full, ZIBANEJAD and BUCHNEVICH, in only abbreviating them as ZIB and BUCH.

These are the 4 CURRENT RANGERS WHOSE NAMES YOU MISSPELLED HERE:

(1) Lettieri ......... (It's not spelled as, Letierri, like you did.)
(2) Lindqvist ...... (It's not spelled as, Lundqvist, as in the goalie, Henrik.)
(3) Kravtsov ...... (It's not spelled as, Kravstov.)

... AND FOR THE WINNER OF THEM ALL:
(4) Georgiev ...... (It's not spelled as, GREGORIEV.)

At least you spelled Jesper's last name correctly as, FAST.

So everyone is anticipating Igor Shestyorkin coming over from KHL next summer; but I wonder if he doesn't sign a 1-yr bridge to remain in KHL until the NHL's next CBA (to avoid any lockout a la Zucc in 2013; as well as see if entry-level $ ceiling is higher in next CBA)

yep very good questions

and then he doesn't come over until he's 25-26 years old, if he comes over at all

I honestly think he is just waiting for Hank to leave. He doesn't want to come here to play in the minors or be a backup. Why he may just keep doing one year deals til Hank's contract is up

I think it's more about the money than anything else

he's not subjected to the NHL maximum level contract in Russia that he is here (975K base, up to 3.75 mil in bonuses)

But wouldn’t he benefit from a year apprentice, giving him time to adapt to play in the US and NHL while also learning how to navigate NY?

He would, and being in the AHL wouldn't expose him to the expansion draft.
