A bridge deal is safe for the team.

Inking him long term is a better investment for the team.

In my opinion

- Der Kaiser

Long term:
If he plays well it's good management
If he plays bad, it's bad management

Seams risky .
I respect your opinion though

Sam -

Pros
- scored 25 goals
- good friends with our superstar eichel
- consistent year end numbers over the past 3 years
-homegrown talent

Cons
- kinda soft
-kinda slow
-pp points
-doesnt play the body or fore check
-hasn't put in the gym time
-didnt play well for half of last season

Am I missing anything

The only pro arguements that you keep bringing up are his goals/ points. Which are decent. Not 7 million dollars worth

- Boss34

trade him for a future 6th rd pick

12% of his games have this place turned on its ear.

The bad years have colored the thinking so that bad things are expected.

- Der Kaiser

Playing devil's advocate, what if he was never as bad as his start? What if he was never as good as his finish? What if he's a 55 point guy? That's why I go with the bridge. He's increased points by 3-4 each year. I want to see him jump 10 before they commit

I got nothing

players never put up better numbers when the team is good, vs worst in league

I fully expect 15 to 20% increase in production from reinhart and risto this season

You did it ALL the time
- jdfitz77

No, I didn’t blame them all the time.

They just didn’t do enough at times to justify being big parts of this team.

Like I’ve said, if you want to blame a 31st place finish on Girgensons or Larsson, be my guest. But the fact is that the top 6 wasn’t good enough most nights either

Well thought out.

Let me guess: he scores goals and points

He was the #1 forward chosen in 2014. 50 point season 4 years later

Yay

duchene got 59 points this year, 6 mil
eberle 59 points, 6 mil
jvr had 54 points same for evander and gallagher
Ryan Johansen is really good IMO on a good team 54 points, 8 mil
Paul Stastny 54 points, over 6 mil

all guys almost everyone wanted on this team in the last 18 months

the great Matthew Tkachuk couldn't get 50 points last season, and the flames top 9 was much better then ours

Top six didn’t have enough talent to offset the lack of talent everywhere else. That’s slightly different than what I think you’re saying.

You’d specifically single them out
Come on dude
U know u did

And there a HUGE DIFFERENCE between blaming “Girgs & Larsson”
And saying we had
-no depth scoring
-sh!tty defense
-mediocre goaltending

But ya know...
continue to inaccurately quote me

I didn’t have homie’s data but I think it tells you what the value of his contribution is.

And I believe as the talent gets more widespread the performance will increase faster than 3-4 points.

Definitely. The standards were set high. We lost on purpose for him.

Your smart for being able to look past it.
Probably enjoy the games more

I just wonder what jbotts is thinking.
I doubt he's sold.
As gm he has watched 2 sams
1st 1/2 sam 2nd 1/2 sam

That's tough to give a guy a long deal based on that.

Thus the bridge deal in my opinion

actually, all the crap and suffering we have seen the last 10 years

watching eichel, reinhart, dahlin, risto, skinner and casey turn this team around this season will be all the joy I need

reinhart is a very good player and as this team gets better, so will his stats

he does a lot of little things that go unnoticed on the ice

in years of pathetic results, IMO the kids were the least of the problems and I saw more then enough in the last half of the season to have 60 plus points as a realistic floor if reinhart is in the right spot on the lineup

this pp will get better

this team scoring will get better

and quick

A GM who bases his evaluation of a player based only on the games he’s seen himself is in the wrong job.

Heard on Nightcap Jeremy White tweeted his “Sabres source” said Sabres want 4.5 for Sam and Sam wants 5.75. I didn’t hear what either side was asking for term

All of this is to blame. Add coaching, top 6, and top 4.
