I think that would be great, but if I’m Sam I wouldn’t.

I want Sam here long term. I think he’s the perfect complimentary guy now that we have some star talent around him.

Why wouldn’t you sign for $32m over six years if you were sam, instead of 2 years at $4M

If I’m Sam I don’t sign long term unless it’s near Kane money.

With what Wilson got...He’s a 6 mil player

3) Alex Nylander

When the Sabres selected Alex Nylander eight overall in the 2016 draft, there was understandable excitement. After all, they were getting a player who arguably should have been picked higher.

As a creative playmaker and talented scoring, Nylander was just what the Sabres were looking for. And yet, fair or not, this coming season is an important one for the winger.

That’s because the 20-year-old has not made as much progress as expected. And we’re not even talking about the NHL level, where he has a couple of points in seven appearances over two seasons.

During his first year in the AHL with the Rochester Americans, Nylander actually finished with the worst +/- rating on the team (-24). And his second season got off to a terrible start, when he missed the first two months through injury.

Unfortunately for the Calgary, Alberta native, even when he did return, his situation didn’t particularly improve. This was best exemplified by being demoted to the fourth line and losing his power-play spot during the first round of the AHL playoffs, as the Amerks were swept by the Syracuse Crunch.

But, but, but, there's a plan! McCarron and "Peterson" are switching on and off with the first team. Never mind that that means neither one is doing anything particularly well, and that the guy they traded up for is languishing with the 3rd team with the same problems he was known to have pre-draft.

Yikes.

So why give him a bridge deal - hoping the market reverses itself?? Just avoiding reality?

Very superficial article.

Yes Petersen threw the 5 picks. But he’s playing great in training camp, showing all the attributes that got him drafted. And that’s not new - there was a lot of buzz around this kid last year coming out of camp, too. And if you look at the 5 picks, at least 3 were not his fault, and by the time he got to three, he was so rattled he never should have stayed in.

I think he could be good - look for Allen starting no earlier than week 10 - that’s what the Eagles did with McNabb when McDermott was a wee lad there - but Petersen could make him wait even longer.

Agree on most points. Apparently he has the brain power to process the game.
However, reports are that he has a weak arm on throws to the sideline which require velocity...just doesn't have the arm strength to muscle it in there, thereby creating opportunities for interceptions.
I think he ends up being a career backup.

Im not Harrington's biggest fan.
His comments on TSN (I think it was there) regarding Jack were not wrong..

Jack will be and should be expected to improve his contribution given:
a) having been drafted as an franchise player
b)entering his 4th season, he is now entering his prime years
c) will be paid $10m per, which is top end money
d) being named team captain (presumptively)

Expected Contibutions include:
-demonstrated leadership
-being accountable for him AND the team
-increasing his own production...85+ points or 1+ ppg pace
-increasing his linemates production, making those he plays with better.
-driving the culture change inside and outside the locker room

To those whom much is given, much is expected, period.

If it came from anybody but Harrington, it would be taken more seriously. This fanbase should demand, not just hope for, greatness from Jack Eichel, especially given his current profile.
