Hey, I never said you were wrong, or Don was right, just going with the flow, and how we could have had one more year of Sbiza instead of what we got for Hansen...
Oh, and that Gunner won’t be an NHLer. - 1970vintage
Good call, Don's always wrong.

On Hutton & the LHD logjam...
I’m guessing he has maybe a 1-2mth window to impress TG. I would not be surprised if a quick trade once league injuries kick in or waived to Utica. 4th or 5th at most. |

Watching the Sweden vs Canada game. If Van could just get 1 of Barron, Robertson, Bowen and 1 of Krebs, Clarke, Cozens.
Othwerwise the top pick. |

Going to be even worse once Rathbone, Gunnarsson, OJ, Hughes, Brisebois all develop. |

Turnover Attrition & Injuries will help later.
Most picks are only just that. Starting with only so many spots for opportunity in Van & Utica both & adding that some prospects have less time to make or break it for an NHL career. |

Worse isn’t the term I’d use. Too many nhl caliber players isn’t a bad problem to have.
Edit:
(Insert painfully obvious “Canucks have nhl caliber players?” joke here) |

It would be real nice if Van could trade someone because of actual depth. Probably a year or two away from that IF things go really well on the development side. |

Given there is a max 50 contracts...
We probably don’t max out the 50.
23 in Van.
Contract space is wise management.
Minus Utica vets leaves maybe 18-20 more.
Idk how many in the ECHL to top it off.
Unsigned that stay in the NCAA & the CHL & Europe are marinading for asset management.
UFA’s on expiring contracts open up a few more contracts later eg Gagner & MDZ.
Now after that is all said & done we face something unique to us historically...
Continuing drafts & the prospects picked face competition for a contract & opportunity to develop let alone being signed. So all these extra picks many want to see happen need room. Where will they play? If 1-2 earn an NHL spot each season thats accounting for some of them. Utica needs AHL vets to teach & mentor prospects. Unwise to think otherwise. So i come to the conclusion trades & asset shuffling will be upon us soon or next season. The math simply says finite opportunity & more fierce competition for any or all prospects now & in the future. Thats a very healthy situation to be in & something very new to us as fans. |

Might as well just trade all your picks outside the top two rounds for vets on expiring contracts every year. That way you will never have a log jam, and your drafted players will be able to step in 2-3 years after being drafted no problem. |

I don't usually like the idea to purge the roster but I think if this season doesn't go Vegas style that no matter whether they are in a playoff spot or not. Guys should be traded. Make room for NCAA signings and Utica players.
If this season doesn't go well then the players they have probably aren't going to ever mesh. |

A lot of armchair GMs have low expectations of Briesbois but our GM and people that know hockey nd have actually watched him say he is NHL caliber. |

Gagner MDZ Granlund Gaunce are all on the bubble to get traded or bumped or waived or not resigned. Others could be added depending on the roster make up.
