There’s just too many teams that were significantly better than the Sabres last season to leapfrog. It’s possible but highly unlikely. I think they are for sure better than Ottawa but almost every other team has a better defence if not a deeper forward core.

I think that's how most people here feel. Next year, the expectation becomes the playoffs. This year is about progress and development. If it clicks sooner than expected, that'd be fun too.

Sure, but Berglund and Sobotka are two seperate, trade able contracts.

O'Reilly was a bad year, injury one year older away from being a hard contract to move.

Edit- They also take up an additional roster spot that you would need to allocate $$ to.

So they did save money by adding 2 roster players for 1

But right now we have “extras” so someone being sent down or traded would alleviate that issue

And the amount of $$$ is minimal


And having Sam & Skinner & O’Reilly long term is more than doable
