Boss loves his new asinine contract.
- Wetbandit1

Wilson's contract validated many dumb arguments with know it alls on here.

Now the caps gm is stupid

He got paid, like I said he would

And wait until Sam's contract for around the same amount of money

Pretty sure, no one said to let him walk for nothing.

That's ridiculous.

Dont you run a business? Why would you "just pay the man" when you could negotiate?

Especially when an employee was night and day?

80 points is even funnier 😁👌

I always sell for market value, never give out deals

pretty sure his agent is thinking the same, sign for market value

again it's not 2012 so you guys need to think in terms of current deals when determining market value

I may buy a 3-unit house in which I currently rent. Should I do it?

I think he's better at the moment, yes.

Edit: Gaudreau is better at the moment. He's awesome.

Double Edit: After this year I hope Eichel stays healthy and blows past him, but so far, it's Gaudreau.

- Wetbandit1

It does make sense tho, that 80 points is harder to come by for a winger than a Center, especially when you count those cheesy 2nd assists . I wasn’t trolling, just thought it sounded like a Hater comment and wanted you to clarify.

Yeah, but you say it has to be good because the Caps GM is good when he has a track record of awful deals himself. There are a lot of bad contracts in the NHL. Every GM has handed out a bad deal, made a bad trade, it happens, they're only human.

I wouldn't be surprised if Sam signed for what Wilson got, but the point is people were saying Sam wouldn't get anywhere near that before other guys started to sign. Now that all these deals have been signed the tune is changing, that's all. Sam is a very good player, we're 4 years post-draft, who cares where he was drafted? He's averaged 22 goals a year and increased his point totals every year. He also wasn't drafted for his physicality. So saying he's not physical as a way to somehow take away from his contributions is ludicrous. He should be paid commensurate to his ability, not to his perceived lack of something he never was or will be, neither should he be paid less than his contributions because he's "not living up to his draft status".

I can’t tell you without knowing about the condition of the structure and the electrical/mechanicals. If they need more than routine maintenance it gets complicated.

Otherwise Assume one month vacant each year in the other two units. So you only get 11 out of 12 monthly rents. Does that revenue cover the annual principal + interest (for the mortgage) taxes and insurance on the house? You can’t think of your unit as being free rent because you’re working as the landlord to maintain and administer the property. Think about a credit union for the mortgage they have great rates and are very easy to work with.

If the building has “deferred maintenance” (needs work) it makes the financials very complicated and I wouldn’t recommend it for a first timer.

You might overstate the value of a dollar in today’s NHL too. For a young player in his mid 20’s who scores at a 2nd liners rate...$6million is average. Tom Wilson is way over paid, but if you can deliver over 60 points a year for parts of that deal it’s great value, 70+ it’s a bargain. Nobody in Edmonton complains about RNH’s 6 million, Taylor Hall is an absolute bargain ( He’ll make Tavares coin as a UFA) and Eberle will command over $6m next summer.

Chicago escalated salaries with those Bonehead contracts for Kane and Toews.

It could be a combination of things, but look at the leaders in points, especially assists. The top 20 in the NHL in assists last year 9 were centers, 8 were wingers, and 3 were defensemen. If there are twice as many wingers it should stand to reason given an even distribution of points that there should be roughly twice as many wingers than centers. Now, you could make an argument that, generally, centers are better overall players than wingers with a few obvious exceptions in Ovechkin, Kessel, Benn, Gaudreau, Pat Kane, so centers get more points because they're generally better, but I still don't think that makes up for the fact that year after year, the top assist getters tend to be centers in numbers equal to, or in excess of wingers. I went back to 07-08 and the fewest number of centers in the top 20 was 9, and there are always a couple of defensemen in there, and the most was 12 for a lot of those years.

I think part of being a Center is brains and puck distribution, and it’s natural that the best young players withba mind for the game end up being put at Center . It’s very rare to see a multi dimensional Winger, not saying Ovie and Kane and Laine aren’t sick talents and atheletes.
