I am hoping a guy like Quinn Hughes will help guys like Pouliot and Stecher. I hope being around him and watching the moves rubs off a bit on those two .
I have to admit I am looking forward to seeing this new team. I don't mind if it takes two more years at least it will be exciting . |

They were on the way to do that but the guy was on a suicide mission and crashed it instead. |

The reality is we all know Loui Eriksson was a mistake . It was a huge mistake. Gagner after is first year seemed like a mistake but came on at the end of the year.
The question is does Benning keep the mistake going or does he admit it and fix it ?
If Loui is on pace this year to score 20-30 goals then you have your top line left winger. We all know that is very unlikely and he will probably be around 13 goals. I would respect Benning much more if he admitted his mistake and cut ties with Eriksson and traded him if you could find a sucker or sent him down to Utica.
This is where I have the problem of losing a guy like Leipsic or Goldobin.
If Gagner outplays the others like Gaunce Leipsic Granlund Goldobin then give him a spot , of not give it to the best player. |

LE is a tough one...can he succeed if healthy and on the right line?
Gaunce I think at this point is a foregone conclusion...only way there is room for him now is through injuries. He's a career Utica guy or trade bait now. Gaunce-Hutton-3rd is the new package...

I think it does, hockey will always be a fringe sport in the US save for the northern border states, until that changes Canada will always have the advantage over the US in terms of depth and talent. The only thing that US has that Canada doesn't is the sheer amount of money they can throw into developing players which is why they've caught up internationally. - DariusKnight

I think Gaunce can win a spot at camp. IMO it is not guys like Roussel that will steal his spot , it is Eriksson and Gagner taking spots they don't deserve.

If Gagner is out played by Goldy, Leipsic. I doubt too many teams are lining up too take his contract at a full 3.1 per year. Same with Eriksson. Word is out they are going on waivers. Someone is going to offer something to get him with salary retained if they desire the player. Nobody cares about Gaunce. |

The league is about scoring. Even when they have poopty seasons Gagner and Eriksson outscore Gaunce and Roussel |

My point is I don't give a sh1t that Benning made those mistakes early as long as you fix it now. Don't keep trying to hide the mistakes or force them to work.
I know teams don't care about Gagner and Eriksson and neither should we . Close the book and ice your 13 best forwards.

It is not all about scoring. You are wrong there . Teams plan for PKs , they have defensive specialists and agitators.
I think Roussel will get 12 goals at least this year while Loui would be around 10-13 |

Teams certainly do have to plan for special teams. You aren't going to keep a guy because he is a defensive specialist over someone who can score.
Schaller, Beagle, Sutter, Roussel are probably the first 2 pairings. Eriksson played 2 minutes a game last season.
Gaunce isn't going to beat out Gagner unless Gaunce learns to put points on the board. Teams use 4 forwards on the PP now a days. If injuries happen. I want Gagner to replace someone on the PP over Gaunce. |

If Loui is scoring 25 then of course you would keep him over a guy like Roussel
If Loui scores 13 and is paid 6 mil while a guy like Roussel scores 10 at half the cost and stirs poop and is better defensively then who cares about those extra 3 goals Loui gets.
If Benning ices his 13 best forwards then there is no issue. Just don't ice a team according to salary commitment .

They deserved to win in the first place.
Afraid to think it but USA has caught up with world junior teams to Canada in all levels. Canada still has depth past a single team and more generational players. I doubt that lasts too long soon. - manvanfan
A lot of the American players play all season together on the US Development team which gives them a slight advantage with chemistry. Canada slaps a team together in a few weeks, which makes a huge difference.
But I agree, the rival in the past 10 years has been amazing to watch. |

You proved my point but I’ll adjust my opinion to entitled prima donnas. They are an embarassment to the average hard working Russian citizen excluding the corrupt. In my current field of work Russians are the most hard working individuals i know of & some ppl envy that to the point of absurdity. Though i have not been to Russia i’ve dealt with Russian mill owners. In the field of marketing lumber they are well known to be unreliable on delivery & service. Basically customers shy away once word of where lumber is supplied from is disclosed. There lies the difference between the well off & the average Russian.
Thats the poop. Any poop you can add? - Nighthawk

I think he'll be gone at TDL or before or in Utica full time.

I don't think anyone even wants him in the opening night roster. in his seasons here he hasnt even come close to any of the expectations. Yet we keep hearing from JB that he does all the right things. Bullcrap. Cut our losses. We are just flogging a dead horse with him in the line up. He is not a fit. |

If Canucks are true to their word then salary won't matter .
Boeser EP Bo Sutter Sven Jake Roussel Beagle Schaller Leipsic Gaudette (11 players)
Leftovers
Gagner Granlund Goldobin Gaunce and Loui ( 2 spots open)

The thing I like is Green told him and Sutter . You need to come back a lot better than what you were. Whatever you did for previous training , switch it up. Sounds like a few people with the Canucks are tired of their performance also. |
