There was an issue Oct - Dec. Then magically, poof and he plays at PPG pace.
The previous 164 games dont mean squat to me...they happened before the something issue.

Ok, valid points.
But no mention of him not producing...i.e. you are considering only B and C in my post azbove.
What if he turns out to be A?
Thriw those 164 games before out...SOMETHING happened at thd start of the year and lasted 44 games...how do you KNOW it doesnt reappear when you guarantee $6m per year for 5, 6, 7 years?
Pro ve it deal is smart...and if he doesnf bet on him slef...somewher between A and B should ghen be expected. - IonSabres

I’m done providing numbers for him to then be blatantly ignored.
It’s a tiring excercise.
I remember the week he was a huge analytics fan when it suited his O’Reilly argument. That was a good time - sbroads24
I mean they're not wildly different. I'd say it's within normal variance of season to season. He had 2 more EV goals his first year in 37 less minutes at EV compared to last year. His p/60 was higher last year, not by much, but higher. His possession stats were marginally better last year too. If you use the "he's better with Jack" then what about when Jack missed a quarter of the year this year and his overall numbers were better? Again, it's not a huge difference, but it's not at all fair to say he peaked his first year. |

So in your view is Eichel or any player for that matter comes out and puts up two straight 100 point season but in the first half of the third year they have struggles and don’t put up the points, those first two seasons mean nothing?
I do not understand this logic, even the best have droughts, hell Justin Faulk almost single handledly shut down mcdavid in a game this year, I don’t understand completely writing off his previous achievements when he has a bad stretch of games. |

44 games would only worry me if it had lasted 82 games. He's got 200 games of playing pretty well despite overcoming his own inexperience and playing on a train wreck of a team. Rough patches happen, especially with young players.
I think your concerns would be more valid if we had Sam Bennett instead. Imagine if San Jose decided to buy-out Marleau or took him behind a barn to put him down after the 07-08 season. Sometimes established players sh!t the bed for a whole season. Some thought he was done after 10yrs.
Down years could still happen even if does become a .9 pt/gm guy |

Im watching a replay of Giants and Browns game...at least I thi k it is a replay...whatever.
I was right all along with BAKER FRIGGIN MAYFIELD ... he is going to be a beast in this league assuming the Browns continue to successfully build around him.

I'm not going to look up line combos, but I'm pretty sure he played with some pretty crappy players for a good portion of that three month period. Is it an excuse, sure. But there's no denying it wasn't a factor. Had a new coaching system as well. Didn't help that they screwed around with what was the best powerplay the year before. Not even Eichel was producing there.
Bottom line, he turned it around. |

Not wildly no, I mean his last 40 games is obviously his best stretch of his career, but what Fitz was trying to make fun of me about was when I said I thought he pretty much was who he was after year 2. If he continues on where he left off, that obviously won’t be the case |

I get where you are coming from, I do.
I feel that something major in his life occured that cau sed him to be a Dr Jeckle, Mr Hyde in a contract year, which is essentially the Prove It year...especially when Botts signed Eichel early and specifically said hd will wait on Sam to see what he is.
If he poops thd bed then...wow, that simp,y was the time to doubldd down and p ay like a beast.
He did that after performing miserably foff 44 games.
I'm now repeating myself...Sometinb happened during that soan and there are plenty of rumors that point to a pretty serious problem that siderailed his career during that period. Fighting those issues is long term, not short term.
I think it is reasonable and prudent to minimize risk and ask for a "do over" prove it ... then pay the man based on results.
I would hope you can understand that...maybe you dont agree, fine.

So that everyone is perfectly clear - I stopped drinking because my son told me he thought his weed smoking (which was, and remains, remarkable in its scope) was not very different than my having a few pops, as a way to chill out.
So I quit to show him there are other ways to chill out.
As you might imagine, when some brainless moron tries to insult me as a “recovering alchy” it’s one of those blind spot boomerang things - something somebody throws out into the world that swings back around and hurts them instead, usually without them even realizing it. It’s just another example of the breadth and depth of utter cluelessness, and an additional gauge of the quality of the input.

BTW - I want Sam back. I am not saying dump him, trade him whatever.
