Ed Willes' line for Linden, "the Canucks’ rebuild had to be slow and methodical."
like really, wtf? if he didn't say that when he was first hired, what is the point in saying that 1/2 way down the road?
just hoping we continue to draft and develop and hold onto our first round picks. |

Not really. I find it amusing. I’m a pretty positive guy |

the blessings are, he's managed to get lucky with a couple good kids falling to him and he was smart enough to select them....Pettersson and Hughes. - LeftCoaster

I think Juolevi will be a good second pairing guy and Jake will be a good third line 15-20 goal guy. Not the worst that's for sure. It's just disappointing it could've been better. But that's drafting, it's not an exact science. |
|

i don't disagree that he has spent the money. that is irrelevant to his meddling.
i understand the mentality that it's his "toy" and he can do whatever he wants but that doesn't mean that i have to agree that it's in the team's best interests.
if you/he/any owner want to be hands on, it's simple: give yourself a hockey title (pres/gm/coach) and live with the decisions and man up to the criticism.
don't pick and choose when to be hands on. and don't circumvent the corporate structure. both of those are damaging to any organization in any industry. - RealityChecker
Well said.I doubt that any owner of any team would evers show the balls too do this, unfortuneately |

I think drafting BPA > positional need, hometown familiarity is a science though |

I wouldnt go that far. He has spent to the cap from the moment he bought the team. He wants to win at whatver cost. If it was me I would have my hands in there too. - thundachunk
Yes and no. The Executive Director of Coca-Cola, McDonald's, or Ford aren't making decisions on who is working the assembly lines.
That's what aquaman is being accused of. You hire competent people to make those decisions for you. |

#Isles Transaction: The team has agreed to terms on a three-year entry-level contract with defenseman Noah Dobson. Dobson was selected by the Isles in the first rd (12th overall) of the 2018 NHL Draft and won the Memorial Cup last season

Exactly. Who wouldn’t be involved with a $700 million company? - CanuckDon
Somebody has to be accountable. Who’s to say managemnet didnt get tired of hearing the same old song and dance from Linden. I remember when linde retired and the talk was about him not being a part of the room anymore. The guys got tired of him in the room. EVeryone liked him but he didnt fit the mould anymore. Seems to be the case here. Really though I have no idea nor does anyone else but those in the franchise. |

As we've said before, he's been a big part of the problem sucking the Sedins balls for the past four years and NOW flip-flopping to a slow rebuild model.
Edit: if that's offensive to anyone please have Makita remove it and suspend me for eight years |

It’s hard to believe but the game plan seemed to have been let’s hope the Sedins turn 26 again. |

Agree wholeheartedly, but why would aquaman make it official to the public and the league that he is meddling in some way when he doesnt have to? He does what he wants and holds zero accountability for bad decisions. I agree 100% with what youre saying, but i dont think a GM would ever put himself in that position if he didnt need to |

Could be thta Benning did throw him under the bus. Wouldnt hurt my feelings that’s business.
Linden was only a face for the time being. Really he wasn't ready for that role. I think ownership knew that and needed his face for the franchise. |

Years of yuck because of meddling ownership, poor management, and bad coaching.
Regardless of how hard the players play, a franchise can’t succeed without a solid management foundation. |
