He's just as responsible as Jimbo for 'staying competitive'. - Marwood
I fully understand things change in life, in business and personal life, however, Linden was dumb as dumb if he didn't realize they needed to start a rebuild (Sedins or not) when he first got here. |

Years of yuck because of meddling ownership, poor management, and bad coaching.
Regardless of how hard the players play, a franchise can’t succeed without a solid management foundation. - bloatedmosquito
Yeah, hopefully we get one post Benning |

Isles will be alright. I think they have a few really good prospects, just had a tremendous draft, and i think having tavares at 12 million times 7 years is worse than not having him at that term and aav at his age (i might be the minority here). |

Could be thta Benning did throw him under the bus. Wouldnt hurt my feelings that’s business.
Linden was only a face for the time being. Really he wasn't ready for that role. I think ownership knew that and needed his face for the franchise. - thundachunk
Funny thing I agree with the departure of TL. Never thought it was a good decision to begin with. Just hate how it all ended. Very clumsy and unprofessional. A $700M company should be able to handle these types of transitions better. |

Haha i knew you would chime in on that. I think tavares is great and all, but 28 years old, signed till he is 35 at a huge cap hit, i dont really like that idea. Just me tho. Hes a great player and would be dumb to refuse an offer like that |

I agree with you. Taveras leaving will ultimately be a good thing. He was a bandaid on a terrible team |

I understand why, Canucks desperate for good press. Made sense. But Aquilini should have had a plan for transition in place even before hiring TL if this was a PR stunt.
That’s my fear with Aquilini, how far is this guy thinking ahead? Is he just reacting to the situation at hand? Is there a plan?
Same questions, no answers. |

It's a seven year deal at 11 million a year for a guy that just turned 28 (actually in Sept), the first five years of that contract he'll be very productive and the Leafs just had a 105 point season so they have a good chance to win a Cup if they make some defensive improvements.
First two years he makes 15.9 million and then 12 million for one year and then 9.35 million for a year. |

i'm not in love with the cap hit for the length of the deal but that's a good move by the leafs.
it would be a very bad move for the isles.
2 teams at different stages with 2 different objectives. |

He looks way better on the Leafs than he does on the Islanders at that money imo because if they win no one will give a damn about money. Islanders have no chance to win right now in his prime. |
