It is difficult to visually eye test a defense man's defensive ability. But Tobi has been elite. I agree that he has no real offensive value and is a one dimensional player with the puck on the other teams blueline (fake a shot and pass). He cant play a full season due to his inability to stay healthy. I also agree that where this team is with the cap he is no longer an option for this team. But for the love of Pete why do so many people flip their lids anytime there is a metic that shows Tobi is an elite NHL shot suppressor? He is damn good in his own zone just learn to accept that.

Again, he's so good that no one has signed him. Toby would be a fool if he decided to weigh his options and think about returning to the NHL. Its a young guys game nowadays, he would have signed the first contract he was offered. The fact is: Nobody wants Toby on their team.

It was so nice in here for about 3 weeks, while you were away at summer camp.

I don't think any team in the NHL would offer him a contract. 1 goal in 2 years and hurt a lot. Come'on man. Rexi & Bookem Dano( likely the same guy) Give your head a shake and get out of Mom's basement lol

I always had trouble understanding why the media would not call a spade a spade in terms of Enstrom's play and capability. After 2015 when Anaheim exposed and exploited Enstrom, it was painfully obvious that it was to Toby's benefit that he signed that last deal of 5.75 mill as it was a lopsided deal, particularly the last three years.

That about covers it. Lets face it, he was being paid like he was still performing at 2011, 2012 timeframe. 2.0 said this best a number of times. He made 5.75 mill a year so he had a good run. Time to close the chapter on Toby and wish him well in Sweden.

Because that’s not what happened. Toby was targeted, for sure. It was bad enough that he was rendered a total non-factor, but he was simply that. Everyone but Byfuglien and Trouba fared far worse than Toby, and it wasn’t close.

Even though it’s been widely reported otherwise, and most publications have him as the top FA option left at this moment in time.

Actually, I was on vacation for a bit. Followed by a family emergency. Forgive my absence.

It’s nice to see that you have nothing further to offer in this discussion, though

It is absolutely possible that an NHL team will/has offered him a contract and also that Toby decides to play in Sweden with his brother.

On an NHL contract: Toby was earning a lot ice time with one of the best teams and one of the deeper defense lineups in the league until a decision was made to trade his defensive play for more of an offensive threat during the 3rd round vs Vegas. There are definitely other NHL teams that would benefit from his play... I think the Jets would have him back at a lower pay rate if all pride were set aside for as long as it takes to sign a contract.

Any bigger money that an NHL contract offers can't buy time with family and can't buy the potential to make hockey fun again for Toby. He has made a lot of money in his career and is getting closer to moving on to the next season of his life - I believe he still has choices in the NHL. The choices will also involve his wife's career and wishes for their family, some money and ongoing endorsements for playing in Sweden and reduced travel costs between Wpg and Sweden for himself and family.

As for Rexy... Rexy has taken the high road on this. He has boldly stated his unpopular opinion and given reasons why he believes it to be so. When confronted with jackass comments he defended himself with his typical sarcastic graces going so far as to spell out he was fighting fire with fire (I think if he were a hockey player it would be as a 4th line grinder) I think Rexy is wrong about his 2019 value ceiling for Enstrom and Dano and wrong about the perceived base value (or non-value) of Myers and the handful of other players who live in Rexy's doghouse. I also disagree with his perceptions about Maurice and peak career playing age. All said though where Rexy provides consistent, traceable reasons for his views I don't mind hearing it.

anyone watches weather forecasts or trades stocks knows that the data and algorithms used to predict outcomes have improved year over year. There will come a time when analytics rule the day. Arizona looks to me like the next proving grounds for how beneficial current NHL data is analyzed and used for building a team. They are committed to winning, likely with a lower budget, and an otherwise unimpressive group of NHLers (OEL, Keller and Raanta aside). There are still too many gaps for me to be a believer.

Toby is a regular season workhorse player who can eat up big minutes without hurting your team. The Anaheim series found the ceiling of his ability. When playing a motivated best vs best in a 7 game series he needs help and hopefully there are other options for big minutes.

Toby was not the reason the Jets lost that series in 4 games - the team was just not good enough as a whole. (Veterans out, young guys get playing time, change gears and move on)

I can absolutely confirm I’ve eaten a lot of shoves, hacks, and slashes post-whistle in my brief existence. I’m (unfortunately) very good at being annoying. The punchable face helps.

P.S. Arizona was my sleeper team last year. I have Raanta as a keeper

P.P.S. I just realized I literally play like Brandon Tanev, but obviously nowhere near as good. You have broken me

Here are my concerns/questions with regards to the Jets at 9.25am, Aug 21, 2018:

1. sign Morrissey long term
2. ticket draft with my season ticket partners
3. Roslo gets first kick at #2 centre between Ehlers and Laine
4. LHD - pairings #2 and #3 and one back up gets nailed down
5. one (1) new rookie - any position - steps up and successfully challenges a roster spot

No where on that list is a mention of Tobias ... thanks for your service - yesterday's news
