Some reason I thought he was injured, probably just my mind trying to rationalize why he was not very good with the Rangers. - mdw7413
if the blogs and twitter were around during that season it would have been a huge issue all year we would have gone crazy over, why guys like Gilbert and Kocur were playing instead of him

Kocur was great. 2 goals 1 assist and 129 pim's. He was the original Tanner Glass
because back in those days I only got to see road games on WOR-TV 9 and would never miss one - jimbro83
Likewise for me in sadly remembering that goal Mio allowed, in the days where cable tv was only available to subscribe to in very limited areas to watch any of their Home games at MSG.

My dad admitted the only reason he got cable was to watch the games back then. Also refused to pay for Sportsnet so i remember not being able to watch some of the games
that brawl was so freaking crazy, really actually frightening at points
all Beck's fault too
one time, the Rangers were the bullies - jimbro83
I remember watching that game & thinking that the two teams would never be able to calm down their emotions to resume the game whenever the fighting would finally end. "Shoot The Puck," Barry Beck, (as per Bill Chadwick's routine demand every game), initiated the fighting with that sucker punch, which was way out of the norm for him. Dave Maloney played in that game around the mid point or so of his Rangers tenure, which ended in a Kings vicory to tie the series at 1 win each, prior to the Rangers winning the next two games at MSG to win that 5 game, then "Preliminary Round" Series 3 games to 1.

Jimbo for one, will even assure you of those Bill Chadwick words he spoke routinely as Rangers tv commentator when Barry Beck had the puck on his stick, in case you are in denial of my words.
Beck had a very hard slap shot equivalent to the best of today's players using the lightest weight ever sticks in contrary. However, he was hesitant to use it, nor did so enough when in position to, or skating down along the boards with the puck in the offensive zone.
"SHOOT THE PUCK BARRY, SHOOT THE PUCK", weren't only Chadwick's words as tv commentator back then, but also his repeated words made directly daily during the season right to Barry himself at practices, & whenever with him in person otherwise.
