I hope that Gardiner puts up 60-70 points this year and prices himself out for the Leafs.

The issue is, why should the leafs offer by far the best package for karlsson? We haven't heard of anything remotely close to nylanders caliber being offered for karlsson. If we are trading for karlsson, it should start with liljegren, not nylander.

if - and its a big if - I was considering moving Nylander it would be for a younger d-man who doesn't cost as much AGAINST THE CAP as Karlsson will, someone like Paryako (for example). Karlsson will cost at 10M and likely more, and he has mileage on him.

It would seem to make a lot more sense to trade young high players like Nylander for a player with a contract who's not going to cost 10M+ against the CAP. Karlsson is NOT that guy.

i do agree with you. if we are moving nylander, it should be for a young defense, like a werenski, jones, mcavoy, provorov and ekblad (in no particular order). not for someone who will be demanding 11+ on their next contract.
