Crosby and Malkin both have a few more solid seasons ahead of them before decline becomes a real issue. Elite players have a slower aging curve - barring a catastrophic injury, concussion issues, etc.

If I was a Pens fan, I would be more concerned about depth on defense and goaltending.

When he's talking about a parade he attends in person in spring, it must be the yearly lets-go-golfing in downtown Toronto... the real parades are in June, but forgive, he can't know.

Doesn't matter how good your team Is on paper (as a couple of Bolts fans have already said), it's Cups that count in this type of discussion. Results - & Not the Leafs type results about what they 'are going to do'.

Like the Caps before them, presidents trophies mean nothing. The Bolts need their stars to step up & the depth guys to play their arses off - DSP a perfect example. So In This discussion, right now, history would favour the team that's proven that already. Another worthy reference would be the SV% of the goalies that played the champs - Murray has that advantage also.

It is fair to ask though, IF, Tampa & the Pens can actually get that far to play each other in the ecf. After all, the Pens have a couple of big hitters to get over & Tampa has to get past the Big Bad Broons............who are Tampas biggest threat in The Atlantic.

Don't they have a big hockey parade anyway - no matter where they finish? Living in denial has all sorts of treats & surprises. They just don't have Stanley in an open top, they have a yuuge photo of a jersey thrown on the ice (framed). Then they all go play golf.

Amazingly dumb article just like every preseason ones in most sports. Preseason is where expectations run wild and have all kinds of ridiculous assumptions but it sells, all the paper analysts running around to write something while a lot of fans are getting their hopes and dreams all lined up . Leafs fans have a lot to say and they should but it’s usually Groundhog Day come the next summer. Bolts fans are sitting right there again too waiting for Groundhog Day. One Cup run and losing to the eventual winner 3 times in 7 starts to sound all too familiar. But throw out one matchup out of over 60 possibilities. The Pens Have won 3 in recent history so they get a pass. Caps are defenders so they’re good to go but the rest of us expect a parade but will hear that final buzzer once again disappointed. But why not start your circle jerk and have at it that’s the only satisfaction 90 something percent are going to have this year. Tanner while I can’t stand him has a lot of reasons to flog the Dogs but I’d still elect him pivot man at the circle jerk.
