Gaudette's Huskies didn't make the Frozen Four, so he was able to join the 'Nucks. Ironically, they lost to Hughes & the Wolverines...

As for the Canuck's trading off 2-3 games with Hughes at the end of the year vs burning a year....yeah, I think they would at least consider that in order to help sell the faithful on the future + lock him up.

I would definitely love to see Hughes join the team at the end of the year...my point is simply that I don't think the schedule favours that.

Depth at center is also a huge weakness in the organization, Benning needs to pick a center with his top three pick next year

Next year is a great year for centers. Plus if Petterson plays center and seems like it might work out then there are some great wingers.

Any of Hughes, Dach, Newhook, Cozens, Turcotte for centers.

Then you have Prebs - LW, Kakko - RW, Podkozlin - RW, Lavoie - RW

At this point the top 10 looks to be all forwards except Byrom - LHD. But with Hughes and Joulevi, he makes the least sense all though he is a heck of a player.

I think next years draft will be similar to this past one, in that you cant really go wrong no matter who you take. For me this year with our pick was either Dobson or Hughes, my only complaint was too bad we couldnt have got both.

Obviously things will change lots over the next year however. But putting anyone of those centers between Dahlen and Petterson would be nice for the next decade.
