Fair enough. Benning has to kick the tires on any good player In the league. I don’t believe he would give up a Boeser, EP, Hughes, Horvat, future high pick - aka the future core - for a stop gap. I could be wrong. I hope not.

Kicking tires is fine, but what if the cost was something like Juolevi, Virtanen and a 2nd. That’s giving up on two recent 1st round picks and likely a future high 2nd. That’s still a large part of your future in order to acquire a player you may not be able to retain long term nor will he ultimately help you short term(playoffs).

Just the idea is scary IMo.

Oh ya....it's a passion of mine, the Canucks and hockey in general, that said, it's only a game.

I hate Benning, on a professional level, nothing personal, because I don't think he's very good at his job. However, I hope he succeeds, despite himself.

He’s a top six player for sure, it’s just a matter of what position. If he opens at 3 /4 C then I immediately have coaching concerns

I am guessing it will be a while before he goes to center.

On the Canucks perhaps he can move into that position in the second half of the year, or sooner, if he does really well. I suspect (hope like hell) he shows really well and suplants Sutter and Beagle to their rightful bottom six positions.
