Seriously, if Gaunce played 80 games and chipped in with 8-10 goals and 20-25 points while remaining a strong defensive forward do you think he isn’t valuable on the 4 th line? We’re talking out a 24 year old player here, not a guy past his peak.

Still room to improve, possibly an elite 4th line player or a good third for peak seasons....

He’s not the problem with the team, you just want a 4th line to hold their own. The problem is that the top 9isnt strong enough so you scrutinize th rest of the team.

I want to establish reasonably priced vets on my team, not guys chasing the $. If guys like Gaunce continue to develop then you can continue to sign at team friendly deals. Stability means quite a bit in life and is worth 10% to 20% salary.

I’d just rather they not acquire him to fill a hole and plant seeds instead.

If they do trade for him what happens to Edler then ? The D does need an upgrade but Hughes will be here next year and OJ I think some time this year. I honestly wouldn't mind a left side of Hughes Krug and OJ but like you said at what cost?
