Can we get 3 paragraphs explaining your opinion though? - benmacw
No, but I can do it in a sentence for those snarky, less capable readers in the crowd:
He's pretty slow, not a good puckmover and, as such, has limited utility to a team pushing towards success. |

Bottom line, we need Talbot to stand on his head or we are franked.. Our D isn't capable of controlling the playand it probably doesn't matter who we add - oilpatch
I disagree. I think McLellan can dial back his system with the help of Yawney and roll out a simpler, zone-defense that'll play to the strengths of most of our D and, in turn, help Talbot a lot. |

No,I disagree.. Talbot has too be a stud to help out our D
I really hope that Yawney can help. Lets face it McLellan hasn"t given us much inspiration. |

Thats a great plan you should call them and let them know what they are doing wrong. |

And you should continue being salty over someone asserting that your method of discussion was somewhat disingenuous.
Or we could come to some measure of understanding in a mutual recognition that I could stand to approach those things differently and you could not take those sorts of things personally. |

Well, him being a stud would certainly help 😅 Just not sure I'm gonna bank on it. |

Our D isn’t bad ( When Healthy) we just need that stud #1 point producer that a dozen or so other teams have.
Yeah ya funny how Klefbom, Larsson, Nurse, Benning And Russel is so totally unimpressive but simply add an OEL, Giordano or Subban to the top of that list and its as good as at least 25 other back ends. |

McDaviid playing keep away with the puck can make them look better as well. I agree on 3 of those 5 being very capable d. |

Really? Agree on Russel, and he is bottom pair so there’s no issue, but Benning can play 2nd pair and his stats back that up. I mean last year he was much, much better at Hockey than Hamonic...so was Russel, to be fair. |

I think it's reasonable to suggest RNH was a tad rushed into the league. While he was plenty skilled enough for the league, he certainly wasn't physically ready for it that year. As I've mentioned in the past, shoulders aren't something you can rush in strengthening and Nuge is a prime example of a guy whose shoulders weren't prepared for the strain a full NHL season puts on them. That's likely part of why it was a rather innocuous stumble that did him in.
You can certainly contend that it mightve been better for him long term to have played another year in junior and strengthened his stabilizer muscle and improved his stamina. As we know all too well, not all 1st overall picks are created equal. - MaximumBone
So what you are saying is that if he tripped over that blue line in Junior instead of the NHL, he wouldn't have hurt his shoulder? |

Oilers will finish between 10th and 13th in the west. They are not a good team. Talbot will have a similar if not worse year than last. |
