A GF of mine said to me the other day "are you listening to me?"
I thought that was kind of a weird way to start a conversation |

LA signing Kovalchuk shows they are desperate for scoring. Edmonton hasn't done anything to get better on paper. - manvanfan
Now that Sekera is out long-term Oil have no choice but to get better on D and soonish...they'll be there IMO if McJesus plays the full 82 he'll break 120 pts this year. |

They have a new coaching strategy. Lucic will never come back beyond the defensive side of centre, that way as the team breaks out they will all be crossing the blue line together. He will pot 30 this year and be a force! |

They have no secondary scoring anymore. Goaltending is pretty iffy. Unless they are giving up 1st and 2nd round picks to find capable defenders. I don't see it. |

There's just no way Lucic, Nurse, Klefbom, Russell and a few other can have that bad a season again. I have them moving up...way up. we'll see |

I see every team in our division with big question marks . Many teams have weak D and some forward groups are not as good as people think. Teams are getting older and the style is changing |

lol awesome.
My GF right now over the past few weeks has been really focusing on that to the point now where she is looking for it all the time and just gets pissed off.
It's actually starting to annoy me now.

Also true and I also have CGY moving up a bit too if they get the goaltending and their D doesn't sh!t the bed like last season.

It is Bo time.
If Sutter gets the C or someone other than Bo it's a sure sign the team is headed in the wrong direction.
Oh wait...
lol - LordHumungous
No need to name a new captain right away, why not have a season or two where it is rotated among players or just have a bunch of A's? |

They look better on paper. They could make some noise . Their problem is until they take the next step they just get blended into the middle but they do have some good pieces in place. |

I like the deal they made with CAR. Yup, they may surprise. |

Edler Sutter and Bo are the leaders on this team . I find the captaincy thing a crock of sh1t anyways so who cares. It is not like being captain of the Canucks gets you privileges

For me it boils down to sending the right message to the fans and players alike. The future of this club is obviously Bo, Boeser and Pettersson but to me Bo has shown what it takes to be the leader of the future. Sutter (as much as I like him) might not even be here at TDL so making him Captain is a moot point.
I understand your point though about a rotation for the next year or two...I just think it't time to make a choice and stick to it. Send the right message to the fans especially after this Linden fiasco has taken the public perception of the club back another step.
My take anyways. |

Exactly. Until the Flames show they can consistently move up they will continue to circle the drain like many clubs. |

The funny thing is I get the feeling their biggest problem is maturity. You always hear about them being hung over or in a bar. Sounds like they could use some mentors like Beagle and Sutter |

IMO, Sven is a stop-gap top 6 player that is tradebait, during the lifetime of his contract.
I would much rather see players , such as Bo or Boeser wearing the C(or A), with a veteran like Tanev Edler Gudbranson or Sutter wearing an A.
But what do I know, I am not yet a man. - Reubenkincade
Admitting your non man state is the first of many steps to becoming a man. Donald will mentor you through the next phase of your transition. |

I really hope some of the young guys make JB deal some vets.
Not that I expect him to get a reasonable return though |

Agree, I also don't believe Vegas can be as good again this year, or that Calgary will rebound. I also have the Canucks 4th, just making the playoffs

Disagree. You don't commit $10m to a stop gap. Benning clearly sees him as a valuable contributir and mentor for the younger players making their way up, and rightly so. - 1970vintage
He's a keystone member of the teams top line. He'll provide the lead by example missing now that Henrik is gone. |
