I thought one of his issues - maybe in 2013 - was his father's serious illness - missed a couple of weeks at some point, IIRC.
But - not sure there's any real reason to bring him back. They have Kunitz, plus a lot of youngsters that they want to play. Brouwer is NOT going to be the difference between competing for a Cup (or even a playoff spot) and not competing.
Even on a PTO - the time and resources spent running him out on the ice and evaluating him - I don't see much value. - StLBravesFan
You are right about his father. And I agree with the rest of the post. With the league speed these days there's no point bringing him back. |

I have a feeling they bring in Brouwer like last minute.
Where would you plug him into your lineup that you just constructed if they do? - SoftServe
UPDATE: I just heard the Hawks are entertaining bringing Troy Brouwer back on a 1-year deal.
Also, Stan is re-engaging on some trade talks so it's possible he goes that route or brings Brouwer back on at least a PTO. |

Thanks for the update, Justin. Like you said, you're just the messenger!
The Hawks need a player like Shore than Brouwer. Not to say Shore is the missing link to recapturing the Cup again but he'd move the needle a heckuva lot more than Brouwer would in terms of fulfilling a need and relieving pressure from others like taking D-zone draws so that Toews and Schmaltz don't have to do as much. Don't see what need Brouwer fills or who he is helping to relieve. |

I know he's not yet a known commodity, but I think the Hawks are banking on Kahun to do a decent amount of that heavy lifting (Kruger as well for that matter). From what I've seen of him, he is pretty solid defensively, and can actually take a faceoff. |

Kahun might be a pleasant surprise. Just like Debricant last year |

Kahun could be an option if an acquisition isn't in the cards. In my mind at least I've always penciled him in as a winger, not as a center. If he's strong at the dot and say he anchors a 3rd line with Anisimov, that would allow Anisimov to slide over to LW. The question then would be who plays RW. Sikura, Hayden, and Kampf have come up as possibilities. |

He was in the doghouse here on a regular basis - 6628
Because Brouwer wasn't doing his job sometimes. And he still played top 6 minutes that 2010 season until he was playing poorly in the playoffs and saw his minutes cut. Would you really change the 2010 season any? It obviously worked out that Q was correct since they won the cup. And Brouwer got out played in 2011 by some other players, including Bickell, so I don't really see how that can be construed as "run out" by the coach. He was given a fair shake. And it's not like anything Brouwer has done since leaving the Hawks (outside of a single playoffs) has proven that Q was wrong.
Sometimes I don't get why Q doghouses some players, but Brouwer I understood, and he honestly got a longer leash than many. Like I said, I liked Brouwer for the most part and I wouldn't hate him on an low low contract that is closer to his value, but that doesn't mean I didn't understand trading him. |

What kind of package would it take to acquire Truoba from Winnipeg? As for martinsin I liked his game last year physical, went to the net, decent speed, gives the hawks something they don't have a lot of size and physical play. Does he play every game no put him in against the bigger more physical teams. I would take Shore over brower need another center plus he is 25 so still young. |

The Hawks likely don't have what it would take to get Trouba. I think people need to move on from that dream. |

What other d man could the hawks try and acquire not named Truoba ( I bring him up as an example of a type a d man hawks are lacking IMO, plus I like truoba and his game, and you are right he is not getting traded to the hawks, its a pipedream. |

NOOOOO! Justin, if you have an "in" with the Hawks front office - tell them to have Stan go back to sleep until the season starts.

I think we have assets in Schmaltz and ADB to get Trouba. I’d trade either of those guys in a heartbeat for him. |

Good news on both points.
We need some sack up front.

That fills one hole and creates another. Not gonna fix much with that deal IMO. |

Hopefully PTO only and they make him prove he is worth a shot, because his recent play isn't enough to warrant it to me. |

That's my take on any potential trades for players like Trouba. Would love to have him, however, it would not only create a new hole in the lineup but also put a dent in the prospect pipeline just at a pivotal point when it is starting to rebound and trend positively. |

Winnipeg doesn't need forwards though, they'd need a dman to replace Trouba. Jokiharu and something might do it but the hawks need the entry level contract of Jokiharu if he makes the team anyway. |

Have a whole roster full of guys like them. Losing either creates no hole.
Better option than spending Hossas money just to maintain the status quo. Need to get better. |

Trade our vaunted #8 pick this year. Again, worth it. |
