Well, the truth is, Benning has collected some nice pieces, despite himself. Another high first round pick this year and things are starting to look a whole lot better. - LeftCoaster
Yeah if we get Jack Hughes then we are talking. Until then, I’m going to be my pessimistic self. |

The Rangers are going to have 3- 40 point defensemen next season
https://www.nhl.com/news/...c-299767532?tid=290471364
Van's not going to have any. - manvanfan
106 points between these two guys.
Eight guys, Edler, Hutton, MDZ, Stecher, Pouliot, Tanev, Biega & Gudbranson had a grand total of 120.
So important to draft and develop offensive defencemen!!
Hughes = Gostisbehere |

Hughes has so much higher end talent than Ghost it isn’t even funny.
IMO Hughes will be a 60-70 pt dman for years to come.

Yes I agree, I was just comparing their point totals as I see Hughes being our 60 - 70 point dman. Gostisbehere is more of PP specialist whereas Provorov is more of an all-around better player.
Quinn Hughes can make plays at top speed and has elite stickhandling and playmaking abilities. Gostisbehere has a heavy shot, which Hughes doesn't, but Hughes is far better in every other area....in my uneducated opinion. |

It didn’t apply. You’re prone to bias 😂
I’m a long time dedicated fan who has suffered the highs & lows. I’m not prone to whining after living through the Mausolem days & that pathetic fan base. Over the decades I only slam someone in the organization when totally inept &/or destroys the team or walks when it gets rough. Bill Laforge, Messier, Kesler are list toppers.
I was fortunate to see some glory years in the Canucks WHL days. That was great hockey & some great memories. The ‘72 Canada/Russia series was something else. The fans performance during that game i worked at here is the epitomy of what we still have today. That still stands out to hockey fans nationwide & remains an embarrassment to this day & the riot was only a further reminder to fans everywhere.
By our very nature we end up with ppl like Pratt who have a job to feed them bunk in healthy heapings. They lap it up like the media lemmings they are. Tony Gallagher & Neil Mcrae look like Saints compared to him. - Nighthawk
This is an awful lot of words to say that you’re a homer. It’s fine to be a homer, it’s just that calling out others for a bias is ironic.

Who can or does jump into the play on D?
EG...never lol
Tanev somewhat but a useless finisher
Edler has had his moments
Stetcher rarely & not even a threat
Hutton is capable but too laid back
MDZ stays at home
Predictable D & ops can suffocate our F’s til Hughes & OJ arrive. - Nighthawk
You forgot Krug. |

I see myself more as a dedicated fan through the high & low times. Very seldom was i disgruntled. I enjoy hockey for the game it is & fun/enjoyment it gives. The other fans over the years are another story.
The ‘82 cup run was magical. Many remember us as a lucky team that squeaked into the PO’s. I recall us peaking late in the season & character & never quit hockey was our MO. Cinderella maybe but one heckuva ride til swept by the dynasty NYI. We gave them a real scare games 1 & 2 but we wilted after that. Towel Power
1994 was the best SCF i’ve ever witnessed & the better team won by an eyelash. The Canuck mobile was great.
2011 i could be called a homer saying the officiating was one-sided. Tough hockey like LAK played was fine but the Bruins nope.
As for all the other seasons good bad or mediocre it was all part of the journey. If not for my work I’d have seasons tickets.
My only complaint is beer prices.
😂😂cheers🍺 |

You can call it any way you want but you are definitely a homer. Own it. There is nothing wrong with it.

Bettman will make sure Vancouver picks first or second to ensure we get the younger Hughes kid
Quinn Hughes steps up to the stage, announces "with the first overall pick in the 2019 NHL draft, the Vancouver Canucks are proud to select, from the United States Development Program, Jack Hughes". |

82 I was 12 years old don't remember much of the run to the SCF vs NYI.
94 I truly though we were a team of destiny that year. Ran into a great NYR club but gary's refs were starting to get planted at that time after he took over as comissioner. We didn't get any favors in gm 7 of that series and if Lafayette scores instead of hitting the post results may have been different. I did like the fact that Quinn called out Gary's refs after gm 7 and was fined $25,000 for it. Good on him.
2011 we changed too much of our game plan after gm 2 of the SCF. We played hard nosed hockey for 3 rounds but after the Rome hit things changed. Gary and Campbell had all they needed to let BOS do whatever they wanted out there and we stopped playing our game. Torres, Lapeirre, Bieksa, were all told by AV to stop the tough stuff and let the PP do the work...well, how did that work out. Sure that team was good enough to find a way to win but after gm 2 the officiating was massively sided towards BOS..but it is what it is. All Lou had to do was steal one freakin game in BOS and he couldn't accomplish it.
Oh well. Hopefully back in the final for the 2020-50 year anniversary ...
lol
