Vancouver should stay the course. Even with Karlson they aren’t making the playoffs for at least 3 years. In 3 years Juolevi, Hughes, Hutton, Stetcher, Pouliot, Horvat, Boeser, Dahlen, Petterson, Woo, Virtanen, And Gaudette will be more valuable that a 30 something Karlsson. That’s going to be a really good team and I say that being a life long anti fan of the Cafuchs. - dcoms77
It entirely depends on what it would cost. Of course, giving up all the prospects for Karlsson isn't a good idea, but a couple of them and some picks might be worth it. Karlsson is probably the best defenceman most of us have ever seen play. I know a lot of people won't agree with that, but it's not a completely absurd statement. If Karlsson is willing to sign a max extension with Vancouver, there's a very slim chance they'll find a better defenceman to play there in the next 9 years.

Karlsson is the best player in the league on any given night. Was the best player in the series against Pittsburgh when pang wings won the cup.
The guy will be great for another 8 years... He'll still be elite in 3 years...

Why are you being hateful towards people?
Why are you calling right leaning people, "scum"?

Trying to get good value for a player who can walk, is near impossible. plus, the other team has to take a high salary player.
Unless Karlsson agrees to a new contract, won't get much for himk |

People which are politically conservative almost universally tend to have an undersized or underperforming (usually the former) right supramarginal gyrus. So yeah, physiological probability is on his side. |

Why don't you link the study?
I've come across articles arguing mental illness is more prevalent amongst people with extreme liberal behaviors and or beliefs.
My point being, why make personal attacks and make pejorative attacks againstentire groups of people.

Even if they got him for free why would Vegas want Lucic, an aging, slow dinosaur in a game that covet speed, for 5 more years at $6 mil per? |

Why would the Devils do that. Any benefit from EK is instantly offset by the albatross known as Ryan. Only way you take bothe from Ottawa is if you give up bare minimum in return. |

I can’t wait until the Conservatives are in power here in Alberta next year and we turn off the gas taps for pukes like you. - Ihatebrianburke
Congratulations on making the separatists in Quebec look reasonable.
It's a feat I didn't think was possible.
PS- We don't need your "gas" (by which I assume you mean "bituminous sands"). The Alberta pipes run South, not East. The Americans don't need (or want) it either, because of the Dakotas. So you can keep your "gas": I'm sure your new Conservative government will cut you a great deal on your heating fuel rates.
To the OP...
It's hard to say what will happen with Karlsson. I live in Ottawa (not a Sens fan) but I can tell you the situation here is a gong show.
Melnyk is universally despised and the city wants nothing to do with his arena propositions. So while the "official" line is that the project is moving forward, there are still many question marks and grey areas regarding the arena and its investors (not the least of which is they want to build a massive arena and surrounding residential development on a glacial kame: in other words a giant, unstable, hill of sand).
Then add the fiasco with Hoffman and his wife, the recent reports of Anderson wanting a trade because he "doesn't like drama", the reluctance of Brady Tkachuk to leave Boston College, and it all points to dark days ahead for the Ottawa fanbase.
I can't see a scenario where Karlsson stays past the end of this season. Any lip service statements he gives to signing an extension with the Senators are not to be believed. Which is unfortunate, because the most likely scenario seems to be that he walks for nothing and the fans are short-changed for the one legitimate All-Star they had.
The next most likely is that the the Sens get pennies on the dollar value for him because of his contract situation, and again, the fans get fleeced.
The Senators are not and will not be a good team for years to come, and they don't even have their own draft pick this year to start a (desperately needed) rebuild.
Between poor management, poor drafting, poor player development and the worst (and cheapest) owner in the NHL, things are looking pretty grim in the NCR.
As for Lucic... Vegas needs athletes who can skate for their team. That effectively rules out Lucic. The glory days of goon hockey had their last Hurrah with the Bruins in 2011.
May they stay buried forever.
