I think it’s fair to question whether Jack is Elite, or just very good
He’s now gotta be in that 100point range to get to Elite status
No more excuses for him

- jdfitz77

Austin Matthews, who many consider on a level with mcdavid has never topped 70 points but most people you ask would absolutely say he is an elite talent, I can understand questioning whether Eichel is a 100 point guy, but I really don’t see how Jack is not an elite talented player.

So there're 3 elite players in the league? 6 if you include Malkin and MacKinnon and Hall who were just short and would've gotten there if they played all 82.

You’re making way too much of his age
He’s not over the hill
And too much of the brain injury
He’s fine now

Take away last year,
because he couldn’t train all summer

The year before... WITH US...
he had 19 goals in 65 games
Over 82 games, that equates to 24 goals

He should do better than that with Jack

Okposo is 100% and been training all summer
Paul Hamilton was just talking about him this week on WGR
(I forget which day. It was the morning show though)

- jdfitz77

That's all fine, but you're still saying that for Jack to be considered elite, he has to raise Okposo to a goal-scoring level he achieved 1 year out of 8, 5 years ago when he was in his prime

Hard to argue that point per game players aren't elite. Jack's been just off that mark 2 straight years and it's reasonable to expect him to eclipse that mark this year, with better line mates.

Totally agree he’s been on terrible teams for his first three years, both standing wise and scoring, with an actual goal scoring winger in Skinner he should do just fine, along with some actual nhl depth on the roster.

Right, Kyle's success is all based on Jack's talent and Phil mis-using him on the top line and 1st PP all season to pad his stats....all so that he can then be traded because he isn't actually a top line/top PP player.

Matthews also score 40 goals as a rookie & was on pace for 45 last year

I’m not dogging Jack...
just wondering if he’s gonna be a 30goal guy who’s a ppg player...
or if he’s gonna be a 100 point guy

I’m saying Jack should make players around him better if he’s elite
Okposo was on pace for 24 goals with us,
TWO years ago
It’s not a stretch to expect more if he plays with Jack all year

I still think you're discounting the impact of age and injury history. Lucic should score 50 goals with McDavid if we judge him by 2012 stats

If he is the bolded then he is an elite player no question, I personally don’t know if he will be the 100 point guy, but to say he is just a real good player, I think is off base.
Sam Reinhart is a very good player, Jack I think is elite.
If you are putting up 100 points consistently that puts you into the generational category, like the mcdavids and Crosbys, I don’t know if Jack will ever get there.

Good grief
Who gives a sh!t what my definition of elite is vs yours or whoever’s?

Is Jack an 80 point guy?
Or is he a 100 point guy?

There is that simple enough?

I’ve had 9 Sierra Nevadas in my fridge since June 8. Bought a 12 pack for some buds and they only drank 2 (it was morning).

Last week I made a Trinchado and I subbed in a SN when the recipe called for brandy

It sucks feeling old - being old ain’t bad, feeling old sucks.

I am anticipating Jack to be around 90 pts this season if he can stay healthy for say 78+ games.
Having a competent LW in either Sheary or Skinner, and either Okposo or Sam on his right gives him the talent on both sides he has been lacking.
Also, more distributed scoring throughout the lineup will help reduce the singular focus on shutting him down, so he gets some relief there.
Lastly, I looking for capable finishing from the backend as well...That 5 man attacking unit
Housley wants, but last years team wouldnt play. The 2005-2007 teams had that trailer as a key weapon, hopefully Dahlin and Guhle can upgrade there as well as Bogo and Risto jumping up too.
That structure should add more goals.

So 1.1 PPG pace for Jack is my fofecast.

First, breathing is overrated. Also, it's kind of overcast outside today, plus it's supposed to be pretty humid - gross. Also, it's just a preseason game. Not that big of a deal.

But it's Andy Dalton day.

And if Allen goes out and throws 900 interceptions, then everyone was right and we can send the team to space.
