Perhaps the premium on RHD ? He’s a good stay at home type that gives you respectable offensive numbers. Top 4 Dman on most if not all NHL teams. - Pegullaville
aj is the last qb they need to start right now - homiedclown
I NEVER said to start Aj... did i?
We aren’t winning this year no matter what
We should do do what’s best for Allen long term
Allen... is... not... ready!!!
Today was further proof
Don’t try to explain it away with “the line wasn’t good”
That’s true, but the line isn’t magically getting better in the next 14 days
It is what it is
And it’s not good enough to protect a QB who needs extra time to break down the defense & find the open WR
He needs time to develop mentally
That’s not a strike against him
EVERYONE KNEW when he was drafted that he was raw & would need time
It would be stupid to rush him
Stop being impatient
Looks like the halo might have saved another one today. WTF was Hulkenberg doing? He admitted to (frank)ing up, but Goddamn, that's one hell of a cockup to launch Alonso like that.
It tickles me to no end to hear Mercedes complain about other teams being faster than them, as if the only way that were possible is if they were cheating. Hamilton could've had him, but he was impatient, went too early and locked it up, missed the apex and was (frank)ed from there.
Verstappen with one of the nicest moves I've seen in a while on Ocon, shortly after the safety car. If he can do that, instead of shunting more often than not going forward, he will be someone to watch out for.

WTF are you talking about? He had no time. You can't just throw the ball away in the pocket, that's grounding.
"It is a foul for intentional grounding if a passer, facing an imminent loss of yardage because of pressure from the defense, throws a forward pass without a realistic chance of completion."
A garbage can would've done a better job than John Miller today.
They could've coached their way out of it, calling more rollouts where he had success, but they didn't. One long throw he attempted was totally and completely (frank)ed up by Benjamin, jumping way too early, and then on top of it dropping the pass. The one to Clay, I don't know what happened there, if it just came out weird or what, but that was a bad throw, and then coming back and throwing it 70mph so no one, including his receivers, could catch it as an overcompensation wasn't good either. The drop by Clay on the first? play was terrible, right on the numbers and he (frank)ing drops it. He showed off some touch today with a couple nice short throws.
It's pretty (frank)ing hard to do anything when you have dogpoop receivers that can't get open, and you have D-Linemen in the backfield on your 4th step back.
If the line is going to be this bad, I don't want Allen playing, if the line is going to be this bad they'll be lucky to win 3 games. But until I see them suck in a real game I'd start Allen. The best way to learn is to do. Watching tape is great and all and he'll obviously be doing that, but you can't learn to actually "read" a defense unless you're out there, on the field.

There were plays when Allen had time,
but held onto the ball
Were WRs not open?
Maybe
But he didn’t scramble
He didn’t check down
He didn’t get rid of the ball
He took sack after sack after sack
Not saying the line gave him all day
I’m saying he had time to get off a pass but didn’t for whatever reason
Putting him in there to be overwhelmed doesn’t make sense
Get him ready mentally
Then get him in
He needs to be “trained” more
Not thrown into the deep end
We don’t want him to turn into a guy that doggy paddles to stay afloat
We want a gold medal swimmer
The run game looked pretty good even without Shady.
Otherwise we were "elite" - Der Kaiser
Defenses are going to crowd the box and the middle of the field, and make Peterman throw to the sidelines where his arm strength will make him prone to underthrown interceptions and jumped routes

I don't disagree that he needs more time. I also don't agree that he had time to work with. Once or twice, sure. It wasn't the overall pattern, that pattern was that the defensive line for Cinci was getting through, quickly and easily.

I only watched the 4th quarter and the highlights. I was gonna go back and watch a condensed game, but 5 sacks in a half tells me enough - jcragcrumple
My sense is that Peterman gets the ball out faster than Allen, but Allen was NOT given enough time to throw. I fault the line - not Allen. (And while I didn't watch the second half so I don't know - I wonder if Peterman was playing against Cinci's Defensive 2's.)
That said, Allen went into concussion protocol after a big hit at the end of the first half, and that's all I need to see to say Peterman should be our opening day starter.
