it "picked up" on this site, and ONLY this site because EK and his "sources" pull rumours out of their ass to get hits. he's obviously not going to Vancouver.
- sensarmy_11

This statement is BS, the rumour started with Friedman, all media and other hockey sites picked up on this and it became a talking point.

Vancouver is no where near being a contender this year or next. Benning may have inquired as what the cost would be, and he wouldn't be doing his job if he didn't inquire. But this isn't a hope in hell Vancouver lands Karlsson.

My other comment would be that maybe you should frequent another site if you find this site so offensive that you need to be rude and disrespectful.

have you read the message boards when EK posts a "rumour"......it's nothing but rudeness and disrespect for his 0.012 batting average

Strange to see the Tyler Seguin contract discussions spill over into public view.

You know Dallas was hot for Karlsson.
The Sequin stuff over the last few days just does not make any sense. Dallas cannot give both Karlsson and Sequin $11m deals.

Dallas is refusing to discuss a new deal and Sequin is making noise about it. Something is missing in this story.

Has Dallas decided that Seguin puts up great personal numbers but does not deliver in the win column when it counts?

What do your sources say Spatso. You have made it perfectly clear that you have true inside information at your disposal. So why don't you tell us what's up.

Vegas is sometimes wrong.

Therefore my opinion is better, Marleau is a good 3rd liner, and "hardy" is the correct word to use to to describe laughter

No sources. It just seems like a very strange time for Sequin to be going public over his unhappiness with the Stars not agreeing to negotiate a new deal.

Honestly, I can't comprehend any GM that hasn't got a contending team (such as Tampa), giving up the assets that it will 'probably' take to get Karlsson unless an extension is 100% garaunteed. The Cup is probably worth setting your franchise back a few years, but just to have EK on The team for a season (& probably play 65-70 games), is just stupid.

But it doesn’t look like he’ll sign with the sens.

They have 1 year to hopefully trade him with an extension, but if the rumour is true that he wants to sign with the lightning then it won’t matter anyways.

Lightning can wait it out a year, and sens will take peanuts on the dollar if he won’t sign an extension with the team he is traded to.

I am still not buying this stuff about him willing to sign with a Canadian team. It is all PR on his part.

There's so much talk around I actually have no idea what to expect. Sens won't want to lose him for zero that's a garauntee. But who will pay what he's worth? What is 1 year of Karlsson worth? Could the financial off ice return an organisation would get be worth the assets it would take? I doubt it especially in the Nucks case. The Jets could probably put together a good offer that wouldn't hurt the team too much for a season as they are pretty loaded & will lose someone due to the cap - but would Karlsson fit?

I think they may have to settle for a rental return & play him up to the deadline hoping he doesn't get injured.

He is a huge risk to any team that won't be able to extend him. I would say too big a risk!

It would have to be a team with a lot of "futures" to offer up, and be willing to give up those futures for a rental.

All I can think of is Vegas? Although I imagine he would re-sign there. Even if he were a rental, Vegas went to the SCF this season, maybe they think Karlsson could put them over the top, and they do have a lot of future stuff stockpiled to return to Ottawa?

Other than that, Tampa? but they sure need to clear space. They do have the young talent to offer up though.

I agree. They have some good players in the pipeline that should be some impact players.
- LeafGuy89

This is true...and very encouraging as a 'Nucks fan (yes, yes, I know...)...but the prospects & rookies will not be impact players at a championship / playoff level this season. Give them a couple of years yet, they need a lot more than Karlsson to be a legit contender!

Toronto could use a #1 defenceman of EK's stature...Marner (or Nylander?) + picks and a young prospect? Could Dubas make that fit under the cap?

I don’t think this is a stretch. Dallas has to know what he will cost and he seemed pretty upset in a recent interview about Dallas’s lack of negotiating. It seems Seguin expected legitimate offers this summer. Dallas may not trade him to Ottawa of course, but they may be holding out for Karlsson and know they can’t keep them both. Just speculation though of course.

I actually like Karlsson to Colorado...

Karlsson for our 1st rounder back + 2019 COL's 1st + Timmins + Girard assuming Mhakar is off the table
