Because you have Eichel. If you only had Reinhardt and Mitts you would take McDavid 100/100 times, as would 31 other GM’s and everyone else with a brain. - HonkyTonkMan

It's easy to say, because Buffalo has Dahlin already. On the other hand, wouldn't having McDavid and Eichel be like Pittsburgh having Crosby and Malkin? Could Eichel and Dahlin be like having Kopitar and Doughty (hopefully better)? Either way, you can have the best player or best two players in the league and still not win a thing without the right guys to fill out the rest of the roster.

I think the two hardest players to acquire are a 1C and a 1D. The #1 D is so important in today’s NHL, and it pushes back everyone to play in a spot they should be. Teams with all star defenders seem to have deeper 2nd and 3rd pairs as well. I would take all that over a superstar 2C , there are plenty of good 2C’s out there.
LA got plenty of credit for their outstanding defence...but really without Doughty the rest of the defence would all move up a spot and be God Awful. Jake Muzzin, #1 D?
The rumor is Bears are negotiating with Mack and if contract is met, the trade goes through. Rumor is they are offering more than Aaron Daronld just got. Lots of coin.

Thanks for the correction. I can’t keep all these names straight. Not to mention reading things online that are wrong (like my comment) it only messes with my brain more.
Anyways. If we think Okposo could be good on third line, we should trade for a 2nd line RW and then this team looks real good. I would think with maybe 4 years left would be perfect. Because the 3 1st rounders next year could be ready in 3 years or so, to replace this guy.

Pitt won the Cup a few years ago without a #1D (Letang hurt)
And Vegas got to the Cup last year without a 1D... heck, they didn’t even have a 2D
There’s always gonna be different ways to build a “winner”

Well Fluery literally had a .935 SV% throughout 3 rounds. He was immortal. Switch him with any other goalie and they are knocked out first round. As well they rolled 4 lines and just becuase Theodore isn’t a household name as of last year didn’t mean he doesn’t have first pairing talent as he showed last year. Schmidt, Miller also pretty good d-men. Depth and goaltending wins hockey games.
