Eklund post on main page. Kinda funny, actually. Like all teams owe the Canadians and should respect tyem more. What is the last good move / draft pick they made? |

Well Fluery literally had a .935 SV% throughout 3 rounds. He was immortal. Switch him with any other goalie and they are knocked out first round. As well they rolled 4 lines and just becuase Theodore isn’t a household name as of last year didn’t mean he doesn’t have first pairing talent as he showed last year. Schmidt, Miller also pretty good d-men. Depth and goaltending wins hockey games. - Pegullaville
None of those guys are “top pair” yet though
And sure, Fleury was great
But that defense was also helping out a lot by moving the puck up the ice & not giving up tons of good chances
It’s not like he was Hasek back there
And generally any team that gets to the Cup is benefiting from pretty good goalie play
Maybe not that good, but still goes without saying that u need strong goalie play to get that far
I love that we got our “1D”
But those examples i pointed out just go to show how u can still build a really good team without one
The NHL is always changing in that regard
Back when we had Briere/Drury,
we didn’t have a 1D
We probably had 5guys that were 2/3 quality
So like u said,
“Depth” can be a way to build a winner too |

Gotcha
I don’t pay much attn to the nonsense articles that get written on the Buzz
MTL is screwed going forward
They better hope the coming lockout lets them do compliance buyouts of Weber & Price
Otherwise, those contracts are killers
They need a new GM
He’s totally Fd them
That Galchenyuk trade was brutal
Now they’re gonna dump Patches
It’s gonna be fun beating up on them & Ottawa for the next 5+ years |

Erod eichel okposo
Skinner mitts sam
Sheary burgland sobotka
Wilson girgs pommer
Certainly flip the left side guys and for that matter the right side guys.
I like the assists from okposo and eichel, some one on the left side will be the beneficiary.
Skinner eichel okposo ???? - Boss34
I like how scoring is spread out over 3 lines
Maybe we could do that if our 4th line is the one we use “defensively”
Something like

I don't see why you'd make all these moves, just to play Eichel with third line wingers again.

Is Sheary that much better than Okposo?
I’d put them in the same talent range
The theory would be that u can play Eichel with lesser talent bc he will make them better
Whereas, if u put 3rd line talent on line3,
u won’t get much production from them

I thought jack and kyle had a good rapport on the ice.
Eichel played with erod in college
Maybe that's why I would try that line.
Okposo is not going to be used as a 3rd liner, unless he sucks completely.
Seams like the top 6 are separated
Jack
Casey
Kyle
Skinner
Sheary
Sam
Who's better then okposo in the bottom 6? |

I agree , sheary is similar to okposo.
Okposo makes more and is more of a passer in my opinion |

I never minded Jack with Kyle, but they rarely played together. Jack and ERod never have in the NHL, so I think people are too into the BU thing instead of building a solid line.
I call Kyle a third liner because that's how he played last year. Maybe he'll be better this year, but that's far from a given. I think Thompson has a real shot to knock him down. Love it or hate it, Pommer too.
I just don't see Jack playing much without either Sam or at least one of the new guys: Sheary/Skinner/Thompson. |

Solid posting, you’re right. Plenty of ways to do it. Just like those songs who say ‘ Heavy Hockey’ is dead, the only way to win is speed and skill. Until a ‘Heavy Hockey’ team wins the cup again and then that will be the only way to win in the NHL.
