That was the point. There have been very good RHD available but JB has gone with the LHD instead. Woo was brought into it by Vantel for some reason. I don't know what that reason was.
- manvanfan

Because you said Canucks have failed to address the RHD issue . Woo is a RHD. Problem addressed

Kyle Connor 5 points 20 games 52 games in minors (1 year in college)
JT Compher 5 points 21 games 41 games in minors (3 years in college)
Zach Aston Reese 5 points 16 games 41 games in minors (4 years in college)
Alex Kerfoot 43 points in 79 games (4 years in college)
Clayton Keller 65 points in 82 games (1 year in college)
Brock Boeser 55 points in 62 games (2 years in college)
Tyler Motte 7 points in 33 games 43 games in minors (3 years in college)
Jack Eichel 56 points in 81 games (1 year in college)
Evan Rodriques 2 points in 2 games 72 games in minors (4 years in college)
Jimmy Vesey 27 points in 80 games (4 years in college)

Collection of the top scoring players from college over the past couple years. How they did in their first NHL season and how long they stayed in college for.

Which is pretty much what I just said. The best players, especially the ones who play 3 and 4 years in college, are proving they belong in the NHL. I'm not equating the top college players to McDavid (as evidence by Eichel). Obviously some guys needed more seasoning in the AHL. Gaudette might be one of those guys, I guess we will see. I also don't expect Gaudette to be Keller, ever.

Woo doesn't have the same upside as a top 10 pick in most cases.

I have no idea what we have in Gaudette . We will find out but I won't base it on a 5 game preview with a sh1t team

So many possibilities , too hard to guess . I think the best will be the best at training camp. Truthfully I couldn't give a rats ass about losing a fringe player going through waivers. You want to play in the NHL then prove it.
- VANTEL

Loosing a player on waivers is never the end of the world, but if you manage to keep guys who you know can play in the NHL then you can avoid having to trade for a Dowd when injuries hit (I know, losing Subban is not a big deal, but maybe next time it's a player who could actually have helped the Canucks)

I honestly don't know what the limitations of 18 year old Jett Woo are . Maybe you're right maybe you're wrong

We don't need to trade for a Dowd and we don't need to keep a fringe NHL player on the roster either.

I was just trying to put your mind at ease and let you sleep nights in case we lose Gaunce .

I think Beagle is the 3rd C, and shut down line. I also think Rousel will get looks in the top 6. I could see Gaunce earning a spot on LW with Beagle on line 3, or perhaps with Schaller as the 4th C, or even Gaudette, as a kind of defensive conscience of the line. Limited minutes from the 4th.
- 1970vintage

Beagle is 32. He was 4LC last year on the champion team.
He will be declining every year until he retires.
He should be 4lc but wil be 3lc to start the season.
I hope that one of pettersson, gagner, granlund, gaunce can push him down as that would mean orr team is doing better.... but I fear that he'll be our number 3 pivot as we push for the number 1 pick.

Like I said, loosing Gaunce wouldn't be a huge deal, or Granlund, or Gagner or Leipsic or Goldobin. But if you could manage your roster so you don't lose any player who you know is an NHL player, so that later in the season you don't have to spend to get a stop gap replacement, why wouldn't you?

I would not hold a kid back like Gaudette back if fear of losing anyone of those players you mentioned

Remember how it used to be? The 3rd line was the "shutdown" line. Now NHL coaches want scoring from the 3rd line. Bunch of greedy basterds.

You seem confused again. If a player can’t make the Canucks, one of the worst teams, then they aren’t an NHL player. They are trash that can be replaced on the waiver wire
