Scott Rosenhek says "So, second best in the league. Not too shabby, Vancouver. Granted, losing for this long contributes to the rebuild, so bask in the sun, Canucks fans."
This guy is a professional whiner.
4 out of the past 6 years Van has been out of the playoffs.
Sabres 7 years straight missed playoffs
Coyotes 6 years straight missed playoffs
Lightning 5 out of 6 years missed playoffs
Leafs 11 of 12 years missed playoffs
Jets 5 out of 7 years missed playoffs
Devils 5 out of 6 years missed playoffs since the finals
Blue Jackets have only made the playoffs 4 out of 17 years. Never out of the first round.
Just a random selection of teams.
5 out of 7 years if they miss this year doesn't look so bad. - manvanfan

The team could afford an eleven or twelve million contract. It is very doable . The question is do they want to?
You have to admit it would be an impressive D for the next few years
Edler Karlsson
Hughes Woo
OJ Guddy - VANTEL
I'd almost want to switch hughes and edler, puck posession monsters

The Kings have been paying a recapture penalty on Mike Richard since 2015, running until 2031-32 season.

That whole situation wasn't a normal recapture scenario, they tried to "terminate" his contract due to his ordeal with perscription drugs at the border.
Most every other player simply gets put on the LTIR list and gets swept under the carpet. |

As far as I know, it is the only recapture penalty issued, so I would think that would be considered the norm... |

Most every player also goes on LTIR with the team that signed the deal. |

Trying to make a new Pettersson avatar with his number, not sure what he'll wear though? Seems 14-40-41 are his three go-to numbers. Wonder which he'll choose?
Haven't been this excited about a Canucks prospect in a long long time |

Even when they aren't put on LTIR, they tend to sweep them under the carpet, like say if you retired from nhl to play in khl. Lol |

Semantics my friend. The ask was "who paid them last" and the answer was "the kings". As a fellow literary aficionado, you cannot, using common laws of the English language, change the ask, after the answer, to make your point.
Or in common tongue... YOU LOSE!
So we do risk ,and should prepare for a future with, Loo's recapture penalty. |

Detroit is just about to put Zetterberg, I'd imagine, on the LTIR as he's scheduled to make 3.5 million this year at age 38 and then 1 million for each of the next two years.
Exact scenario I'm referring to, they'll simply say his back is gone so he's on the long term injured list....over and done. |

Negative, he'll go on LTIR like 99.9% of all the other older players. |
