Yeah, but Crawford is really underrated. Top 10 goalie that bails out their shoddy defense.

I think Canucks will take more than a few games when teams play us expecting to take a night off. Calgary struggles against us every year and so do the Oilers.

No, you have mis-read the thread. Minivan suggested that Glass was over rated at #12 on the list, I only pointed out Glass was (I thought) the consensus choice by Canuck fans.

I also wanted Glass (happy to have Pettersson), and even suggested trading Horvat to Vegas at the deadline.

JB wouldn't be doing his job if he didn't listen. Move him in the right deal, absolutely.

EP had been my pick from December on that year. (Yes, it's in the book)

Ratio changes a lot, depending on the day. I had vantel written down for Glass a few days prior. DCT wanting Mittelstadt and Lefty wants to trade down. Rueben also thought Vilamaki should be top 5.

Vantel was right in choosing Sbisa to VGK though.

In the lead up to the draft (an hour begore) VANTEL, Classic and ASL all called Pettersson. Nucker was shattered by the selection. Thunder said he was done being a Canuck fan, DCT loved the pick. I'm sure there is much more, but it's like a bazillion pages https://www.hockeybuzz.co...?thread_id=145143&page=20

I hope so, he certainly showed us some flashes.

Tom Wilson had played 300 nhl games and only had 70ish points. This season had 35 points and has a Stanley cup ring. Jake has only played 140 NHL games.

True, I remember the 2009-2012 Canucks having some letdown snooze fest games against some bottom feeders

My level of disappointment was at a 3 level. I definitely wanted Glass but the speculation going into the final days that it would be Pettersson . Glad it turned out this way but definitely would have been happy with Mittlestadt or Glass

If History has shown us anything this should be a given . Nucker is shattered with every draft

Don't think they could really have gone wrong with any of those three guys.

I was happy

I would have been happy with any of them. They all look to be good players. All 3 play in different leagues so hard to judge one against the other. Hard to ignore what Pettersson accomplished this season. NHL is a whole different ball game though.

They think the Sedins lost points will absolutely kill us...I don't see it. With who we have added and young players playing a larger role and stepping up with more TOI I think those points are replaceable. Plus we are a way better team 5/5 which I think will eventually translate to more wins. Moving on from the Sedins is a good thing not a bad one.

Oddly enough, I had Hughes as the 4th best player in the draft. I just think Van needs a minute munching defensive men that will shut down other teams top lines and improve the PK.

It was like getting Torey Krug over Charlie McAvoy.

Todd Cordell

Detroit and I'm not sure it's remotely close.

The Red Wings' defense is old, immobile, inept offensively, and not exactly stout on the defensive side of things. Mike Green is the best defenseman on the roster and he's probably a fringe top-4 guy at this point in his career. There isn't really anything of worth on their blueline right now and I'm not sure that can be said of another team in the NHL. Almost every defender they have is old, overpaid, or a combination of the two.

I'm pretty optimistic about Filip Hronek's future but I don't think there is any other defenseman in the system who is all that close to making an impact.

Peter Tessier

Well, this is tough because it's like a three-way race to be brutal. The first two that strike me as being in the 'brutal' category are Detroit and Chicago. Both teams are old, lacking in talent and trying to ride on the legacy of past greatness. Now if the Sabres had not landed Dhalin they would be the final team on the list of three but him alone could take them out of the doldrums. You could also give an honorable mention to the Islanders too- yeesh

These two don't think Van has the worst defence in the league. Not even a mention of them.

Love Torts, too many robots in this league

Torts should be our next president of hockey operations.
