His draft record been ok. Lots of newbies signed to gauge over next few years.
I will re-visit Sharp trade to Dallas. Which I think was made after he gambled, trying to acquire a high pick. You can view this two ways and both viewpoints are not entirely right or wrong.
I choose to believe Sharp was near end of line -had one descent to good seasons as a Dallas Star. I suggest he had begun to loose some on his shot, but cannot offer proof. Sort of looked like he had but the injuries may have had affect.
Unfortunately injury problems as a Dallas Star tainted his last possible couple of still capable seasons.
l of course I bemoaned Johns' loss. His toughness and mobility for his size is a plus. But he had and continues to have the concussion issue. If he gets another, because his concussion (s.?) were serious. Also......He may never become a top second pair. Adequate at best. I do believe he might improve if the Star new coach is that good....we'll see about that.
But aside from Johns' including, it was majorly important to subtract Sharp $4.9 .mil contract. John's was the cost. Not happy but can accept that trade as sensible.

Good moves - Scotty's decisions
Bad moves - Stan's decisions
Just want to emphasize a point we all notice.and can be excited to see develop.....
In future years we will have a very mobile, offensively capable very skilled three pairs on defense. And probably some prospects knocking whom could step in and be successful as third pair type
This is in addition to some prospects who are less glimmer but more solid roll/complementary.
I bet we will be talking how to add more top line forwards and whom else can we promote to the NHL squad on defense. The one monkey wrench I sort of worry about, is whom would be the leader of the blueline crew. Keith? Less minutes TOI from Keith

Amen to the defensive prospect pipeline looking great and offering a nice silver lining soon.
The forward prospect pipeline is another story. Great depth at bottom 6 but not much for top 6 beyond Sikura and Wise. Maybe the Russian trio of Shalunov, Kayumov, and Altybarmakyan. Hopefully at least one of them pans out.

Eh, this is why single quotes taken out of context in a much larger discussion are stupid.
“We’ve been in scenarios where people have picked us as one of the favorites to win a Stanley Cup, and they’re not just going to hand you the Cup because of that. You obviously got to find that belief and you got to work on that belief in your locker room every single day. So for us, it’s not like we’re sitting there thinking, ‘We’re toast. Throw in the towel for the year.’ We’ve kind of identified a lot of things we need to work on just amongst the players in the locker room. We’re excited about making those changes and seeing where it goes."
And he finished with: "But I think once you win one, you want to do it again. So, I think we still got that itch here in Chicago, and we know we got a lot of potential.”
