I'm sure it will stay 9th without the two first ballot HOFer's who anchored that power play. It's all easily replaced, what's 150 points in the NHL anyway. Im convinced! - neem55
Henrik setting up on the halfwall will be missed, one of the best passers in league history. The time and space he got from other players respecting his talent is not easily replaced on the PP.
People can say he only passed to Daniel but we all know that's just a cop-out, he set up plays for everyone. |

The good news is 9 other F’s won’t burn out playing all the tough minutes. Finally its time for them to get their turns. 👍
Gone are the slow & D challenged vets.
More speed is a nice change |

I mean, that's kinda how it works. You get waived if you don't make the team |

Honestly Daniel was a very underrated passer on that PP unit too. Huge holes in there, but EP is going to be fun to watch. I suspect Gagner/Goldy/Bae will rotate the other spot. PP2 is going to be shockingly bad though, not much scoring depth tho year. |

The Sedins were good PP players last year, as much as they overpass on the PP, they were great playmakers for Brock and Bo. We'll see if anyone can step up and fill that PP playmaker role.
I actually agree with nighthawk that the 5v5 play won't take a hit at all. Yes the Sedins put up points, but they bled goals against despite getting really easy 5v5 minutes.
If you give those minutes to 2 other players who aren't skilled, those players don't have to put up the same 5v5 points to replace the same value because of how bad the Sedin line was at 5v5 defense. |

I'm happy change is here, Sedins gone, but yeah I think the first unit will hog the full two minutes more times than not because the second unit will be atrocious
Greener will be yelling "stay out there, stay out there" a lot lol! |

That still only makes them a bottom feeding team like last year, zero sum gains. |

that's assuming the players that get those minutes are below average players. a league average player with 70% o-zone starts would actually produce positive results, even on a bad team. |

581 pts total points on 218 goals in 2018
32pts/player average
Not hard to replicate that sad offence with or without the Sedins/Vanek
180 pts probably from Sven Bo BB
Leaves only 401 or the rest.
27 pts average/player |

yup
Green did the right thing stacking the top unit, the coaching staff saw exactly what the issue was with both units. The 2nd unit with Bro/Brock and Sven lacked an elite PP playmaker to take advantage of Brock's shot and Bo's net front presence
The Sedin unit with Gagner and Vanek/Eriksson on it lacked a shooter like Brock and a net front presence like Bo.
Better to have 1 really good unit instead of 2 crappy ones. |

the problem with their argument is that their looking at straight up point totals. Not counting how atrocious the Sedin line was at 5v5 defense.
You can't just look at points without context. |

Their argument won’t hold water.
Ops ice the puck & tired so out comes the Sedins. Hank doesn't win FO’s as well as Bo. Now they are gone out comes Sven Bo & BB. Gee does that help their point totals?

Who's the above average players taking those minutes? They don't have any, therein lies the problems. The players filling those 5vs5 minutes aren't above average players, so what they make up for defensively, they'll sacrifice offensively.
At least right now anyways, "change is coming" |

The Sedins were 2 of the worst 5v5 players on this team last year so it shouldn't be hard to find someone even marginally better |

For ten years no one else deserved those minutes. If Pettersson can help Boeser and Horvat on the PP and they can stay healthy, I can see Boeser with 15 more points and Horvat 12. Career years for both.
But that won't help the team win any more than last year, it'll be nice for them though. |

Sven Bo BB = 180pts
If 3 others get 40 = 120pts
Leaves 281 from 12 other players
Only 21pts each. Thats a breeze |

For 10yrs they didn’t deserve D-zone starts.
Aka got the easy minutes. Sheltered by all the hard workers & once Kesler left we went downhill fast. |
