When I played competitive hockey as a youngster yes, leadership was very important. You think EP and Boeser don’t need some vets to show them the ropes? Well you are even stupider than I originally thought. And that’s really (frank)ing stupid in case you were wondering put down the tablet and play a sport like a real man. Ronning1980 was right about you. - CanuckDon
As I said, leadership isn’t about age, and if you can’t grasp that I’m not sure there is any hope for you. This team has been oozing veteran leadership for years, if only Jared McCann and Jake Vertanin had some veteran leaders around to show them the ropes in their rookie season, they would both be top line players by now.
I’ve been playing sports a long time, it isn’t always the old guys who lead. |

You cannot drag kids by the ear. Bo took it upon himself. Vets teach kids work ethic whilst they grow out of their immaturity. Can lead a horse to water but not make him drink.
Leadership is about character & experience. The ups & downs of a season is new to prospects who had it good before they were drafted. The work only starts once drafted. |

The middle ground here is that is more rare for a young guy to come in and lead a team. For example McDavid is the leader of his team but I have heard him in quite a few interviews lose his cool. Now a veteran leader would articulate himself much better due to experienced leadership time. That does not make McDavid any less the leader of his team? A veteran leader would come to him and say hey keep your sh!t together regardless of him being Captain. Age isn't the decider but it is a major factor. It is also rare for any young guy to come into the league and lead his team. That said age does not define leadership though it is a quality that few possess. |

All I can say is that we're lucky to have Bo. Brock looks like he's cut from a similar cloth but I'm glad Bo is there to take the weight off of everyone else. Guys like Pettersson and Hughes can focus more on the actual hockey of it all thanks to him. |
