Scary poop but clean hit. Habs getting owned in all categories. Physicality, talent and even attitude. Tkachuk outplayed and outhustled kotkaniemi.

Ottawa iced an experienced roster...they only had 2 of their 2018 draftees, and they had some guys with NHL experience

The Habs had two guys (Plant and Melancon) who played an handful of games in the AHL last year.

Kotkaniemi is also almost a year younger than Tkachuk...at that age, it's huge.

It doesn't tell the whole story though, as I thought they were really tentative and looked intimidated.

Give Kotkaniemi a break, it’s one game and it’s on North American ice which he needs to adjust to. It’s going to take time.

I hope this kid isn’t going to be ruined because of expectations. He was a 12-18th overall pick in a “not so great” draft. He was picked at #3 because the Habs have an awful Center ice position because of awful management. Some picks are great in this range, and some don’t make it. Let’s let him develop properly.

This was a draft advertised all year long by the “Big 4”, then a group of defensemen, and then the rest. Kotkaniemi falls in the rest category, and may be the best of that group.

But let’s not expect him to have the impact of a Dahlin, Svenchnikov, Tkatchuk or Zadina. He’s not that type of player.
