Hockey Writers just made a list of Sabres players to watch at the Prospects Challenge:

UPL
Devante Stephens
Judd Peterson
Glotov
Olofsson
Hickey

Do these guys even watch our team or prospects at all?

I mean no Nylander, no Asplund, Guhle, Pilut, Pekar or Borgen...but Judd Peterson and Glotov, players signed to an AHL contracts, are the ones to watch. Bunch of clowns.

Odd list for sure. I expect good things from Mittelstadt, Dahlin, Guhle, and Thompson. I'm most interested to see how Nylander and Olofsson do, since they both seem like giant question marks who could potentially help the team this year.

Yeah, don't think Thompson was even mentioned. Dahlin apparently was there before as other players will be "vying for the previously drawn by Jack...and Dahlin"...

Complete amateur hour.

Olofsson and Nylander are big question marks and will be fun to see how they do. Honestly, I'm just as excited to see Asplund, Pilut and Laaksonen. I never got to see any of their games, only highlights, so will be nice to see them for a full 60. This could have been a great article about the prospects of an up and coming team...fell utterly short. Just pisses me off the "finger painting coverage" we get comparative to the rest of the league.

i agree that the two more interesting prospects to watch should be Olofsson and Nylander.. I wonder if that goaltending will be worth a damn, i am not sold on UPL like others.

I don't have any expectation that the goalies will be sharp in their first real action of the year.

As for Pilut and Asplund, for some reason, I already get the feeling that they are ready to contribute in a bottom 6/bottom pair role, if called upon. They could both use a little time in Rochester, but they are solid depth this year, when injuries hit.

i don't have huge expectations for the goaltending in this either but i just don't think that highly of UPL like others to begin with..

i think just for the rink adjustment side of it pilut and asplund should and most likely will start in Roch. after the antipin experiment i have tempered any high expectations for Pilut though..

I don' think many have seen enough of UPL to form a real opinion. He's the only real goalie prospect in the system, so I think it's just hopeful optimism.

If we didn't have Dahlin and Mittelstadt as rookies going into this year, I think Olofsson, who is 23 years old, 18 months younger than Girgensons, would be playing

People keep saying "adjust to the NA game," but the net is the same size everywhere. I have no problem with him starting in Roch, and I'm sure he will, but idk how much Rochester is really going to help him. He needs NHL experience at some point.

I think Asplund, Pilut and Olofsson will get some good injury call up time this year. And thankfully our depth is better so it won't be like calling up Baptiste and then sentencing him to play 7 mins a game with Larsson and Nolan

I still consider Olofsson a huge question mark. He was a fringe prospect a year ago, and most of his success last year came on the PP. I just have no idea if he can be effective 5v5 in the NHL. I'll be keeping a close eye on him this weekend.

Jealous. I'm going out of town.

I remember reading a quote from Dahlin: "put him on the powerplay and he'll score so much goals"

Yup, all the quotes and all the highlights are PP. I'm just hoping there's more.
