Pacioretty had no more value to this team as a player. he's getting older and more expensive, and this is a team that figures to be pretty bad for the next 2-3 years. this was the most logical thing they could have done. makes me think Marc Bergevin had nothing to do with it.

Yeah I guess they're definitely looking more at the longer term than the need to win right now. And they're pretty damn minded on finding a center, after a few years (20?) of not having a real #1

But like ASP said years ago, he's Michael Ryder 2.0 - a good complimentary winger.

I think he will fit nicely in Vegas. Paul Stastny is a pass-first guy, Alex Tuch will take care of the gritty stuff. That could be a very solid 2nd line.
