Seriously any vet, even McCarron, so Allen can see what it takes, even if he's the starter, he(McCarron) might not be good enough, but he knows what it takes to play in the league.

That's why I think Tyrod was a shrewd move for the Browns. Everyone knows what he is, an extremely hard working, very average QB. Mayfield can watch and see what he needs to do prep-wise for a year, learn good habits, and combine that with his natural talent.

This... bills screwed the pooch yet again... the more it changes the more it stays the same... how there isn’t a veteran qb on this roster is mind boggling.

Homie, I felt the same way, but those guys are at low impact positions.

Star - paid but not a game changer
Murphy - paid but coming off an injury
V David- paid and healthy scrathed?

Maybe it is a total tanker moves.

Good post ion

- Boss34

They needed bodies on the line, Lotulelei was an overpayment to be sure, and as far as Murphy goes they needed pass rushers, having one of the worst groups in the league last year. Davis was signed after being cut from the Colts and is another place they needed bodies after letting Gaines go in FA.

I saw the Bill's as a .500 team or above.
9-7 , possibly 10-6

On paper the defense looks pretty awesome.

Best secondary in decades.
Hughes has shown flashes
Edmund's picked 16
Milano looked good last year
1 more year of kyle
Sign Murphy and star.

Thought the d would keep us in every game.
Win the close ones with discipline

- Boss34

Before the preseason? Sure I saw ~.500 team, but give how awful the line was there was no way, outside of getting way better somehow, they were going to get there. The defense was more lucky than good last year, they were 23rd? in total defense, but got lucky turnovers. They should've lost to Atlanta and we're talking about year 19 of the drought right now. Edmunds had a fantastic game, 7 tackles, a sack and 2 passes defensed. White was victimized a few times in preseason, seems to have regressed a bit, only time will tell. The defense isn't as bad as they were yesterday, but they're not good enough to overcome an O-Line that can barely block long enough for the QB to get to the bottom of his drop back.

Keenum is bad IMO.

Oh wait we’re comparing him to Peterman, you’re right we should’ve

- sbroads24

Keenum just needs to manage the game. Broncos will have a top 5 defense again and the best WR duo in the league. Rookie RB’s have looked promising albeit one game. Time till tell I guess.

I am shocked they released washington to get a scrub DE

not an o linemen

not a wr

not a vet qb

a 5th DE

now add DT to the list of what we need at next years draft because he have 2 when kyle retires

assuming the rookie will be ok

Good post

You cant always predict turnovers.

I also thought maybe we would have an upgrade at qb.

I liked ty, but we could do better

Close games not blow outs

I think we will, and they're not all going to be 47-3. Even the Browns have had close games the past few years, and they're 1-31-1.

our coach has as many 20 point or more losses in the last 9 games as the browns in the last 33 games

Listen to the interviews, they're behind Allen. Especially Alexander, and Shady's interview yesterday was talking like it's a fait accompli that Allen is the guy going forward.

Edit: You could make the argument he was talking about "the future" as in weeks down the road, but it really didn't feel like it.

It was fun week 17 and the week after leading to the playoffs, but I wouldn’t say the games were that fun outside of maybe Tampa, Atlanta, Colts and one or two others.

We got hammered in a few, and had the same routine 100-150 yard passing games we’ve seen for 15 years now.

Again, it’s not like we were 12-4

Saying last year was fun is kind of revisionist history IMO

Not that they’re great by any means...
but Matt Moore and Derek Anderson are out there i believe
Journeymen types for sure
And likely not very effective any more as far as winning football games go
But they could be decent mentors to Allen I’d think?

Those are just a couple names that came to mind

With all due respect 89, when I posted my prediction 10 days ago, there were replies with 10-6 records ....i.e. win both against Jets and Dolphins, the go 6 and 6 with balance of schedule, others were 9-6 forecasts.
No one said 3-13, lowest was like 6-10.

There are 15 games left and any one of the above could come true, to be sure.
I think I'm closer to the truth, and yesterday's feableness on O was what I envisioned...I had thought 13 points will be the average of their scoring prowess.

The D's complete failure was not anticipated by me, I will give you that.

- IonSabres

Not sure if you want to go back, but I said we'd be lucky to win 6 games this year.

This year is gonna hurt for u guys that had playoff hopes again

But we are gonna be in position to draft a stud pass rusher
And that’s something we desperately need

I know it sucks that we’re at the “there’s always next year” stage
But we do have stuff to look forward to

Adding through the draft
All that Cap space
And Josh Allen developing

I said before i think we take a step back this year,
and then next year we can be a team that starts to compete for the playoffs on a yearly basis

Sucks that we can’t say that now though,
I know

Pass rusher is the 2nd most important position in then league behind QB imo. You need a star QB and a star rusher to affect the other teams QB.

- Wetbandit1

were you really shocked though?

This team has been doing it's best to kill my fandom for going on 20 years now.

Last year was a fluke, and it was cool to see them make the playoffs, but not when we only scored 3 points and still only lost by 7.

We couldn't even score a touch down in that game. I didn't wait 17 years to see the most god awful performance in a playoff game since we beat the Raiders 51-3 in the early 90's, and that's not counting our own blowout losses in the Super Bowl.

I don't know of a more incompetent professional sports team, in all honesty. Maybe the Browns. But honestly, we couldn't have a more fitting scissor sister in Cleveland.
