The QB position, as is usual draws too much attention from fans..both good and bad attention.
Peterman was horrible, no doubt. The entire O side of the ball was absolutely putrid, they couldn't have played worse if they tried (maybe there did)...WRs, TEs, Line ... exactly what I stated when I gave my 3-13 season prediction 2 weeks ago... they are devoid of talent on that side of the ball sans 1 or 3 players. Scoring 20 points in any game will be a huge accomplishment.
How about that feerless D though, eh? All the picks, signings and focus, and gave up 47 points, 27 in the 1st half...enabling the Ravens to rest many of their 1sts to start the 3rd quarter.
This should be the focus of the fans discontent. Collectively, the D needs to keep the team in the game and tne opposition under 20 pts to have any sort of hope to win.
Say what you will about the O, but that performance was more predictable than expecting the D to surrender before half-time arrives.
From Matthew Fairburn of The Athletic.
The defense needs to be better. You can say what you want about the offense putting the defense in bad situations (and that was the case too often on Sunday), but the defense was outclassed. They gave up an 80-yard touchdown drive to start the game and gave up another long drive shortly thereafter. It wasn’t until the score was 17-0 that the Bills’ defense started to settle in. By then it was too late. McDermott is a defensive coach and the team has invested a ton of resources into that side of the ball. Newly signed defensive linemen Star Lotulelei and Trent Murphy were non-existent Sunday and the secondary was exposed by the likes of Flacco, Willie Snead and John Brown. Better quarterbacks and offenses are on the horizon. |

I think the bigger story, they found out quick that tatar was not working and got him off the roster |

I'm not giving mcphee credit for making a bad trade, and then trying to fix it. He could have saved those three picks. He made a bad trade, and then made the best of it, but he squandered 3 assets in the process |

he got a hell of a player for a 1 year run, and if they can extend him it changes everything |

Right! Not very good asset management, in my opinion, as Pac may explore his options UFA after this season.

Pacioretty replaces the outgoing James Neal, but at an extremely high asset cost. If they can sign Pacioretty to a reasonable extension, then it looks better. If they win the cup, of course it's irrelevant what they gave up. But if they regress this year, losing 4 picks in the first 3 rounds will kill you. They're going to pay the piper for trading away all of these picks and prospects |

Pay the piper?
They made it to the finals, they have a ready now roster and the quantity to move future assets. Tater, and whatever else they moved are not significant pieces, Max is. Mcphee traded Forsberg for Erat, the long play on that shows it worked out. Great trade, I hope they grab Karlsson too. |

I'm talking about the assets they spent to acquire Tatar. This is a similar situation to GMTM frivolously squandering Garth's premium Murrancy. What was the Tatar trade if not a total waste of a 1st, 2nd and 3rd? Now they have Pacioretty, but he basically only replaces Neal whom they lost for nothing.
Eventually their prospect pool is gonna look like ours did in 16-17: Bailey and Baptiste, and a whole lot of long shots. So yeah, if they win the cup, it doesn't matter, but longterm, these moves are hurting the franchise. We're witnessing an expansion team mortgage their future to win now, which is almost unheard of. |

I invested too much into Murrency, transitioning to Bottcoin is pretty tough. They had 2 drafts their first year, acquired a butt ton of picks, moving those picks aren't near a high risk as Murrays moves. Mcphee has an actual winning product on the ice to feed. |

Correct
This also goes back to how their team is built. As Fleury goes, Vegas goes.
They do still have a good amount of good young talent, but they overachieved last year and they overachieved by a ton.
All of those picks they acquired they have pretty much sent away.
If Max re-signs then it doesn't look as bad, but it's still not ideal to basically give up a 1st, 2 2nds, a 3rd and a prospect for a 29 year old (turning 30 in November)UFA to be |

tatar was benched in the playoff run though
it's like they were able to move their bogo/okposo contract |

Tatar is 27, has 3 more years at $5.3 million and Vegas has $10 million in cap space, they weren't hurting
