Pacioretty replaces the outgoing James Neal, but at an extremely high asset cost. If they can sign Pacioretty to a reasonable extension, then it looks better. If they win the cup, of course it's irrelevant what they gave up. But if they regress this year, losing 4 picks in the first 3 rounds will kill you. They're going to pay the piper for trading away all of these picks and prospects - jcragcrumple
And they have moved almost all of them - Stripes77
This is according to Capfriendly:
Vegas Golden Knights draft picks
2019 1st, 2nd, (3) 3rds, 4th, (2) 5ths, 6th
2020 1st, (3) 2nds, 3,4,5,6 and 7th
2021 1,2,4,5,6 and 7th
I wouldn't say they are trading away all of their assets. Plenty of picks still to keep the cupboard stacked. I do agree though that they gave way too much for Tatar. With a team firing on the all cylinders, the trade did not make any sense. |

Out of all they got though right now they only have 2 extra seconds and some extra 3rd and 4ths...

After watching the prospects challenge:
Yeah, Dahlin is a freak.
Tage Thompson looks to be a good one too. Really impressed with what he brought. Good hands, needs to keep his shot on net, but has a lot of good skills. Retrieving pucks, skating, stick handling, shooting, he seems to have a pretty good grasp of all of it.
Tage is making this team E4. |

They are keeping Dahlin, Tage, Guhle, Pekar, Cornel, Bisson and Borgen out of the game today. |

They seem to like this Cosky kid. Look for him to earn an AHL contract.
Also, they didn't bother inviting Brycen Martin or Vaclav Karabacek, yet they invited Cornel. It's no surprise Cornel is the best of the 3, but I think it also says a lot of about the other two. |

Both games he played pretty well. Noticeable. Helps create space for the more talented puck handlers. |

To me, Dahlin doesn't belong there. He's obviously so far ahead of everyone else on that surface...
I understand wanting to see him, but pulling those guys out is probably for the best. |

Yeah I really wonder about that team.
Suzuki is a good prospect. But why take back Tatar and that contract, given his struggles. They basically got a good prospect and a 2nd rounder, plus a semi-cap dump. Did Vegas a favor IMO.
Montreal will be bad for years to come OR Bergevin will be fired soon. |

They needed an NHL player for the wing. In a slower system, Tatar was a pretty decent player. Montreal is not that fast, he'll probably fit in pretty well. Now they have a locked in middle pairing LW/RW for the next few years, and get Suzuki in the mean time. They know they'll suck, so the trade was all about grabbing a high quality prospect, and a plug to replace Patch. Hopefully, for Vegas' sake, they didn't pull a Forsberg. |

Can't imagine the Monday at 12:30 game being too popular for the fans anyways. Makes sense to hold all of them out and get a look at the other guys. Casey and Nylander have a lot to prove today though. |

IMO last year was a lucky year for Vegas, I cannot see them getting back to the finals, I think they could even regress enough to miss the playoffs.
I cant see karlsson scoring 40 again this year, I think they rod the "nobody believes in us train" right to the finals, and that was impressive, I just don't think that's a realistic expectation for them this year.
Just my 2 cents |

It says on Sabres.com that there is supposed to be one. The IT folks must have forget to check a setting or two. |

Not knocking the Suzuki pickup, but disagree about Tatar. He was on the downslope in Detroit, got moved to a better team and his production fell of the face of the earth. Tatar has a big cap hit that Vegas was going to have a hard time moving. They gave up a 30g scorer for a good prospect (Suzuki) a 2nd and a cap dump for Vegas. To me, they got shafted worse than CAR with Skinner. At least with Skinner, they got multiple picks back and didn't have to eat salary. |

Yeah, wish they had just done it on Sunday. With the NFL opening weekend and the need for rest, I get it, but a Sunday final would have at least drew viewership. Monday at 12:30, when most are working, seems to be a misstep. |

Sucks UPL isn't playing.
Never been a big fan after his Olympic showings. He played well in game 2. Why not go back to him instead of giving JJ time...knowing full well he isn't the answer? |
