Not all players, especially ones who've played most of their career on one team, fit right in to their new system.

Tatar is a solid player, but for his sake I hope he fits right in for the Habs because their fans aren't the most patient.

It's damage control. The Knights really had no need to auction off futures so early on to pick up a player like Tatar. It was a waste of a trade for them considering how little he even played/contributed.

So yeah, as a whole they gave up too much for Pacioretty, but better to overpay on a top goal-getter than Tatar. It's damage control, but regardless the Knights are a better team at the forward position now than they were last season.

McPhee has clearly made the choice to build VGK to contend now rather than later which I think will be a big mistake a few years down the road, but it's helped to build the fanbase quickly which is probably a better business decision.

Big win for the rebuilding Habs. A team that is having difficulty attracting Free Agents lands a top-6 forward inked for the next 3 seasons, as well as a 100 point OHL star and a second rd pick. Haven't had anything good to say about the habs for a long time, but this is a big win for them who gain youth, and shed their riskiest contract.

I like this move. One more guy with something to prove after his off season. I think especially with his penalty killing abilities, a solid upgrade on both Neal and Perron and far better 5han the baked Tatar. We got better.

Price'y (yeah!) but great addition for VGK - pretty sure we will see a signed contract within the next days.
