You apparently either didn't read what I wrote or your ignorant of the facts. Toews with the addition of Hossa made him a better player , without hossa we don't win that first cup. Also Since Toews was rewarded with that big contract he hasn't produced but yet his play has diminished take that how ever you wish but facts and our eyes don't deceive us.

Now Hayden in the year and a half playing hasn't shown he can be a top 6 player, he is a dump and chase player, he hasn't shown the ability to carry the puck , poor hockey I.Q minimal improvement .

I don't see this season anything to be excited about unless every one takes huge steps forward including captain serious. Every baby hawk needs to exceed expectations.

There is no denying your evaluation. Furthermore we will be humbled if we do not have enough players for playing grit and toughness. There must be a mix of puck battles/scrums with the skating skill game. It could get real ugly if Q is set in some of his ways. Forewards must help defense more. Is there a prized pupil whom Samuelson will work with and like Forsling this dman is not yet ready. If they do not interfere much with Carlson - Tuulola, the rookie pair might be the best bet to start ..........that is, if you go with two rookies.

I imagine this scenario to be a pleasant outcome. Use as third pair together, or more and more as a pairing as the season progresses

In Bowman's mind it is fairly obvious some of this current group on defense is merely biding time until members of the Traverse City dmen crew are ready. So Gus had better start playing defense and be really good offensively. He does have that great passing ability which shall be seen this season

You.can.bet that at least Hillman and Gilbert will get looks. Davidson is a nice depth option. Jokiharju, Mitchell and maybe Beaudin might be fast trackers for deployment next season. But certainly the other prospects on the blueline are expected to take longer to develop.

Some of them need to make leaps of improvement in certain areas despite great skill in certain other areas.

So I guess I shouldn't have streamed the Prospects tourney.

I tuned in they were winning 3-0, now going to OT 3-3.

Are we sure Q hasn't placed himself inside of Colliton's body.

No one seems to shoot, especially on the PP. Pass on the outside, pass on the outside, pass on the outside......................., everyone playing reach with their stick, no one takes the body.

Was looking forward to seeing Bovquist, doesn't look like he was in tonight.

Outside of the whiff on a pass that led to the 3rd goal against, I kind of felt like the first goal was on the goalie (who did well overall for the game) and the second was a beauty of a pass across ice leading to a blister of a shot would have given NHL goalies trouble esp on a 5-on-3 like that. Both were PP goals.

Also idk what game you were watching because this was the game where the Hawks were constantly crashing to the net and passing directly into the slot a lot. The first two goals were both just players battling in front to shoot or for position and the 3rd had two guys in front plus a 3rd in the mid slot distracting from a perfect pass/shot combo from a little out.

The other two games have been a little more finesse plays working, creativity and skill more on display. This one was the lower line, hard nosed players finally capitalizing.

Only saw less than the second half of the game. Guess its just the PP that aggravates me, all that passing around the outside.

I have no stats to back up my observations, just my eyes.

I don't have any stats to back me up either, just what I was watching. 5v5 they passes and shot a lot from the slot and dots, with lots of crashing to the net. PP was a bit more outside but then the Blues prospects had a much better PK than the other two teams the Hawks faced. They scored on two PPs last game so something was working.

Noel kind of reminded me of Shaw with his energy and scrappiness in front of the net.

On the ultra positive side, Hillman-Jokiharju had a great game. They've been the solid defensive pair the last two games but they kind of stepped up into the action more (likely because Boqvist was out and Beaudin was less dynamic with Tuulola as his partner). Jokiharju stood out the most of the d-men.

Very excited to hear that Hillman and Jokiharju and playing well. I still expect Jokiharju to make the Hawks. I may be overly optimistic but I’m ok with that.

He still has some moments where you can tell he is just so young (like with Boqvist, Beaudin) but he's really poised. The first two games were him being being a bit more safe and this game he jumped in more offensively so a few more mistakes but he recovered well.

And not to be overshadowed too much, Hillman is really steady. I could definitely see him being that defensive guy who is backup to a more adventurous partner or just being on a shutdown pair.

There are some stream vids of some of the goals here: https://twitter.com/NonnieJonnie/

The angles are terrible for seeing up close net stuff and twitter is lower quality, but it's the best I could see. The Hawks will probably put up some of the goals tomorrow on their site that might be slightly better.

Ya... I’ve been thinking Hillman offers a skill set that some of the other defensive prospects don’t have. I’m glad Stan didn’t include him in the Hosea deal.

I really liked his game when he was briefly with the team last year. He was mostly un-noticeable in a good way. He didn't seem to make many mistakes and looked like he made the safe plays that Q likes.

Maybe Hillman makes the team with or ahead of Jokiharju. The situation should make for an interesting camp and something to watch all season.

Hillman played in game 1 and tonight but didn't play in game 2. I thought he looked pretty steady in game 1 but less so tonight. It's hard with the center ice camera angle and no replays but I saw a couple times tonight where he didn't look poised and he was a bit hurried by the forecheck and blew a chance to make a pass out of the danger area. Not too egregious but it's the little things and he did a better job in game 1 - in my opinion.

I thought the top line of Sikura-Kahun-Fortin were trying to do too much tonight - like they were trying to force plays rather than go with the flow and make the smart play. Fortin had a bunch of good plays generated by his speed and he showed again he will use his speed to get his shoulder inside the defender and bull rush the net. He's done it at least 3 times and drawn 2 penalties. But, I saw him a number of times leak out for a home run pass before a team mate had uncontested full possession. Those are the types of plays that will keep him in Rockford. I know he's a helluva home run threat but he needs to think defense first a little more often.

For the crappy review I gave Ejdsell after game 1 - he followed up with a much improved game 2 and tonight he played pretty well too. I still think he's more of a fringe player because of his lack of speed/quickness but that long reach of his does compensate for that a bit.

Did anyone see who was the d-man that had the puck bounce off him right into the slot where the St. Louis player one-timed it to tie the score at 3-3. It was on the left side so probably one of the LD's so most likely it was either Beaudin, Hillman or Gilbert but with the only camera being from center ice you couldn't see the number of the player.
