I worry that some of our younger, better prospects (Asplund is a good example) will be in the AHL, not because of talent, but because Botts won't want to waive Bailey/Baptiste to get him in the lineup.

Botterill's forte is supposed to be cap management. It's how he handles guys like Reinhart that will mark whether he succeeds or fails.

My guess is that they a) already know he's making the team b) want to see what the other guys can do and c) guaranteed each guy that they would play at least one game.
