Nice try, guys, but the Oilers won't make the playoffs, so McDavid can't win. - Wetbandit1

Honestly, I can't see it happening. But, McD may still win the Hart. |

According to Leaf fans, Willie Nylander will win it all - Bakwas
For his new team he very well might just do that - the Flyers.
Wait for the comments to start after the trade...........he won't be winning anything. |

Close in the 2013 lockout season but I would hardly say he was in the conversation in 2015, looking at the votes. He was a very distant 3rd. |

Everybody was a distant third. Price couldn't lose that one, he was insane. However he was, as a third place finisher, "in contention." Also I don't even think those votes matter because randoms like Methot get Norris votes and random crap like that, but he technically has been "in contention" twice. |

I actually thought he was the guy during the lockout season. I remember how arrogant the Islanders fans were that summer. I miss those loudmouths. |

He was 24GP - 1.79GA - .941S% and carried the already golf course-booking Sens into playoffs, he should have had more! |

What a crazy troll comment. At least try and advance the discussion instead of making up preposterous BS. Show me a quote of a Leaf fan saying anything of Nylander for the Hart. - MrBen
It's really more borderline stupidity, then it is trolling.
'Cause literally no one has said it. |

The Joke is just a dig at the General over valuing or over rating of Nylander by some or many Leafs fans. No idea if Nylander is Jordan Eberle or Nikita Kucherov ,personally, or if he’s worth a Top Pair Right handed D in trade or a 2nd pair guy, but you guys seem awfully high on him. |

Leaf fans are actually very reasonable when it comes to Nylander, due in large part to the fact that the Leafs have Marner, Matthews and Tavares ahead of him. You could find some of the crazy fans out there, but they're more of an anomaly, most of the fanbase are realistic when it comes to him. |

Other teams have improved. Have the Oil? I don't think Talbot will be much better although you would think your PP has to be. Just my opinion though. Is that ok? |

Actually 'conversation' & 'contention' are 2 different things!
Not sure he would have been in the 'conversation' when Price won it.

I dont think so. Every time someone throws a name out there in trade Leaf fans thinks Nylander is an overpay. I’m talking guys like Trouba, Ellis, Parayko, Ristolainen...not saying you have to be enamoured with the individual players but that’s about where the value is. No way your getting Ekblad, S Jones, or Ekman Larsson, anyway. |

Let me ask you this : was the 2016-17 season an anomaly or was last season? Because those rosters are practically identical, minus Jordan Eberle and now again Andre Sekeras ( or maybe you think those are the missing links?) |

16/17 a good year. I wouldn't say an anomaly, but certainly teams have good years & bad years. Depending on their opponents as well, will dictate where they can & do finish. I'm not sure players may have relied too much on MCD last season & now have to play a lot better themselves. What's your thoughts on the disparity between the seasons? |

I just don’t think they’re even thinking about trading Nylander. Just some nitwits in the Leafs thread. The fact that he racked up 61 points in his first 2 seasons says there is probably alot more to come.
Plus the fact that he’s good on the draw and might be a future centreman. |

I dunno, not in my experience really, except for the random extreme fans that every team has. There's also the general idea that Leaf fans are unreasonable so I'm sure there's some confirmation bias happening as well, distorting people perceptions
In general those who I've talked to and seen are pretty reasonable when it comes to Nylander. People think he's good, but not as necessary as Matthews or Marner. One thing that may confuse other fans is the fact that people dont want him to be traded. So when someone says "Trouba for Nylander", while it may be a good deal on paper, lots of fans like Nylander's game so they would not like that deal. It doesn't automatically mean it's and overpay or they're overvaluing him, they just dont think it's necessary.
In any case, saying "Leaf fans think Nylander will get the Hart" is just lame and low hanging fruit. |
