Well they did not do better than 30th, so yeah, I think they would have taken 31st. - bobbyisno1
Again, that is an assumption.. Just like you are assuming that the Leafs had Yegor Korshkov rated higher than Sam Steel.. |

I wouldn’t say 30 to 31 would’ve been a huge sticking point. At worst they would’ve had to add a higher draft pick to make it work.
Either way that’s the past and leafs are past all this, and on the upswing. Finally |

He's the crazy thing, though: you really only need to judge if he can be a good player for the next 4 years.
After that, Nashville simply has to make a trade to get him back. If the dude retires, the cap hit to Nashville is so cray-cray, they probably wouldn't be able to ice a team.
If Weber decides to retire instead of showing up for his final season (to collect a measly $1 million), the cap hit penalty is $24.57 million.
Nashville has to re-obtain his rights to send him to Robidas Island.
I'd be willing to entertain a deal for Weber, and not worry about 5 years out - because Nashville is the one who has to worry about that. - Atomic Wedgie
Leafs should pay Weber 10 million to retire early. |

I don't know anything about either player but if Nail Yakupov taught us anything, it's that if you have a cool name you WILL fail in the NHL. |

But the Andersen deal doesn't happen without the deal you mention happening first.. - PatC80
Not really.
The deal still could have easily happened. |

Do you have proof that they would have taken the 31st overall pick?
At the time, the Ducks were asking for a 1st rd pick for Andersen. You are assuming that they would just say "sure, why not?" - PatC80
You are assuming that they would say no and wouldn't. And you are assuming that the ducks would have only taking a 1st rd pick.
So many other options were available that could have landed andersen |

Have you watched Zacha hockey? He's remarkably average. - GreatGigInTheSky
He isnt that bad, and he is still very young. Last year was his first full year in the NHL, id give him time for sure. |

Montreal wouldn't get dinged with the penalty. It's Nashville. There's no upside for the Leafs to do that.
So in that sense, Chicago should offer him $5 million to retire a year early and join the Blackhawks' broadcast team.
'hawks pay $5 million to absolutely gut a division rival. And there's nothing in the CBA to prevent it. |

I saw that. Says he got a text from an NHL GM.
But then when he read the text, it sounded more like the NHL GM was asking if Gord was hearing if Karlsson was traded.
On a side note, I was never particularly impressed with Miller - didn't hate him, but wasn't wowed by him. But holy crap, the guy is good on Leafs lunch - I'm blown away by his depth of knowledge.
P.S. I have no idea how Carlo Coliacovo still has a job in media. |
