While the return you're suggesting is laughable.
I've been saying for a while adding Shea Weber to the Leafs would make them just that much stronger.
I hope it never happens. - Scabeh
seriously what do you believe Bergevin would get in a trade for Weber?
declining health, age, gigantic anchor of a contract, contract duration... seriously, what could you get in return? |

And I can't be bothered to look it up, if any make the Leafs it'll be 4th line duty.
Won't be making any bonuses from there. - bobbyisno1
You can't look it up. All you can look up is what it could possibly be for and for how much. The specifics aren't available.

seriously ... you expect a Habtard to even begin to understand "equal reffing"? - BorjeFan4Ever
I know, if the were wearing rouge blanc and bleu it would have been 13 penalities against Boston and 2 against the rouge blanc and bleu in those 2 first games in Boston. |

Matt Duchene to the Sabres for SJ 1st rounder, STL 1st rounder and Zemgus Girgensons - AdamFrench
(frank) Frenchie,
YOU HIGH?
Ottawa won't get NEARLY that from any of those teams!

Sure he's 33 years old, yes his contract pays him 7.3M per season until he's 41, yes he's been injured seriously for the first time in his career (which doesn't make him injury prone yet btw)
He's still, and will remain, a first pairing defenseman for years to come. Hell, he'd be the best defenseman on the Leafs.
If you think most teams wouldn't jump on the possibility of adding Shea (frank)ing Weber to their team, I believe you are mistaken.
He's much more valuable to a team than you give him credit for.
Imho of course. |

The Leafs first 3 lines are set, only 4th line duties left, won't make any bouses from there.
Only one possibe is Liljegren, But he doesn't look ready. |

if the Habs had been in the same situation in the 7th game... there would have been a bench minor against the Bruins for some imagined offense, for example too many men on the ice, along with a stick measurement or two until the officials found one that was either "too curved" or "too worn down" or "too something"....
plus at least 3 or 4 goal interference calls against the Bruins for looking angrily at Carey Price |

However, if he does not play this year, he is trying to make a come back after being off nearly 2 years at the age of 34 with 7 years remaining at 7.3 mill.
He better be Superman. |

Sure it does, they are up against the cap at the end of the year without him on LTIR they can put him on it to have the space to pay the bonuses. - bobbyisno1
Don’t think you can use LTIR for bonus space. Has to be actual cap space. |

there's no question that a healthy Weber would be able to help many teams.. .but the big question is at what cost?

Maybe, unless he's playing great....the cap guy will figure it all out...if they end up having to trade someone due to salaries etc...so be it. Good spot to be in....compared to our recent history *cough 40-50 years*

The Cap hit of $7.8M per season until the end of time will scare teams away.. Plus, his salary doesn't really drop until the 2022-23 season.
Maybe, you can trade him to Arizona in 2023? Assuming, Arizona still has a team then..

I'd expect the return to be better than Pacioretty's to be honest.
Or at the very least in the same ballpark. |
